1 year after I graduated, a student brought a knife to school and tagged 20 kids before he was tackled. He was able to stab multiple students before anyone even screamed - the first victims thought they had just been randomly punched in the stomach, and were shuffling to the principles office when they noticed blood. Kids go to class slowly - shoulder to shoulder like a herd of cows, so it's very easy for a student to weave around butchering. Then, eventually, there is a panic - but students don't know how to react. It's still an easy killing field where people are defenseless. Without a loud, large, obvious firearm - people recognize that there is a threat much slower, and can't identify who the attacker is afterwards. An attacker can re-conceal his weapon, and pretend to be a bloodied victim - getting into secured areas with yet more victims. Moreover, a plastic/wooden shiv easily bypasses any metal detector / security system unless you wanna strip search students. After this happened in my school, I became interested in "spree shootings" where they use knives, and.... It turns out, democrats deliberately call it "spree shooting" so they can pretend like it's something that (almost) always happens in the USA - but in actual fact..... SPREE MURDER FUCKING HAPPENS EVERYWHERE. People LOVE to stab kids to death in schools in say China, India, etc. as an act of retribution against society, inequality, or just because they are evil with no life worth living. People who spree murder with cars / knives are often as successful or more than idiot teenagers shooting an AR-15 for the first time. People who are shot in the USA have a 92% chance of living, yet people assaulted with a knife have a 10% chance of living, 2% survival if assaulted with a bludgeon (like a hammer or bat) according to the FBI Bureau of statistics. Some of the deadliest spree murders are done with cars in crowded areas - easily killing 40+ people. The average spree shooting in the USA kills 4.5 people, 6 people with high capacity weapons like AR-15s. So ask yourself - could you kill 4-6 people with just about any weapon before being tackled? If you answered no, you are a bitch and a gun won't make a difference.
Please say it louder for the people in the back. We need to allow teachers to arm themselves if they feel comfortable with it and stop with the bullshit emotional arguments not based in fact or logic. The truth is no gun control measure has ever decreased violence, the purpose of this shit is only to disarm the public, has nothing to do with public safety. Violent criminals will be violent criminals, let’s stop infringing on the rights of honest, law abiding citizens and stop giving the most despicable member of the population 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. Bad people will do bad things, it’s time people realize this and enable themselves to end a threat when faced with one.
I hadn’t really considered the damage a person could do with a knife on account of it not creating an immediate panic. I kind of assumed a gun would always be more deadly, but if there’s even a 5 second period in which people don’t know what’s going on, that provides a huge window of opportunity for the psycho with a knife. I also imagine it’s much harder/dangerous to disarm a person with a knife than a person with a gun. Unless you’re really skilled or really lucky, you’re going to get injured trying to wrestle away a blade from someone. Good points.
When everyone is unarmed a knife can be just as dangerous as a gun. Everyone is afraid to get near them so they basically have free reign until someone with a ranged weapon (gun or taser) puts them down.
