Oh, Great Maestro has gone! You will be deeply missed, Seiji Ozawa. Undoubtedly, One of my favorite conductors.

Thank you so much for putting on a 30 year old performance... January 23, 1995. What a great human being Rostropovich. What a great audience!

There are many wonderful cellists in the world, but Rostropovich will always be my favorite interpreter of the Dvorak Cello Concerto--and has been for many decades now.

During the encore, it was fascinating to see a truly great conductor in Seiji Ozawa be absolutely mesmerized by the playing of Mstislav Rostropovich. Thank you for sharing this video.

このコンサート、サントリーホールで聴いていました。圧巻の演奏なのはお聴きの通りです。 お二人の巨匠もお亡くなりになってしまった。スラヴァのサラバンドが本当に悲しい。 ご冥福をお祈りします。

29年前にこの演奏をテレビで聴いたのは、阪神・淡路大震災の直後だった。ロストロポーヴィチはアンコールを祈りのサラバンドとして演奏した。後にも先にもあれほど悲痛なバッハを聴いた事は無かった。2024年の正月、能登地震の直後、偶然この演奏を聴く事となり、感慨無量と言う以外の言葉が見つからなかった。

The sound recording quality is excellent. I regard Ozawa as a top-notch orchestral accompaniment conductor and here again, it shows. His ensemble conducting blends so seamlessly with soloists. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised by the high caliber of the NHK orchestra as well. They too deliver a superb performance. Lastly, Rostopovich, being a profound master of the cello adds to the brilliance of this recording with the orchestra and soloists harmoniously coming together as one, creating a magnificent and flawless flow.

RIP Maestro Ozawa. You will be Greatly missed

４５年程前にカラヤン指揮のレコードに針を落としながら良く聴いていた曲でその頃でも感動していましたが、今回久しぶりの凄い演奏に感動しきりです、最後は涙無しでは聴けない程感動しました、小澤征爾さんの指揮も凄くいい、カラヤン直伝の演奏スタイルですが小澤さんならではの魅力を感じる名演でした。 本当にこれぞ名演という物だと思いました、動画をアップして頂いて有難う御座います。

1960ねん😂😂❤は音高音大の生徒の憧れの的で、彼のチェロを支えるアイアンが、楽器の音がかとーくまで響くように曲がっていたんですね。それを真似した若者が、どれほどいたことか。ドボルジャークといえば彼が代名詞みたいな時代でしたね、あれから30年経った動画でも一音も 割れずこの素晴らしさ小沢さんもお若いですねー良き時代でした。

かつてパリでロストロポーヴッチに会ったことがあります。握手をしたら、その手が非常に女性的、というか柔らかいのに驚きました。あの手からこのように雄弁で力強く感動的な音楽が生み出されるのかと思うと、本当にすごい音楽家です。

Memorising and then playing music is incredible to me. It is or at least seems to be like memorising each letter of a word, every one of them having an important place or else the sound and meaning changes! Maestro Rostropovich was a man full of meaning which he expressed beautifully in words and music. The act of rememembrance at the end of the performance was perfect Blessings and peace be with musicians

RIP ドボルザークのチェロ協奏曲で感動したのは初めてです。素晴らしい演奏ですね。 2012年3月11日(東日本大震災の1年後)私はサントリーホールでこの様な黙祷の場面に居合わせました。プラハフィルでした。 最初(予定になかった)新世界第2楽章の演奏後に黙祷。 メインプログラムのドボ8から最後はスラブ舞曲で締めました。

«Reconciled: It was 32 years ago when renowned conductor Seiji Ozawa showed up for a scheduled performance of Japan’s NHK Symphony to face an empty hall. Musicians, offended by what they considered disrespect from the then-27-year-old conductor, boycotted his appearance. Management, also at odds with Ozawa, sent thousands of telegrams telling ticket holders to stay away. Some of this sounds like it could have been written by Rachmaninoff. But some is so purely Dvořákesque. Both wrote some of the greatest concertos we have.
