Mt Arthur Hut Loop - A Father & Daughter TRAMP in the WILD

For this latest installment of S.K.O.A, Sam is joined by his daughter Emma as they go in search of a camping spot in the wild for Emma's first ever tramp.
This loop takes place in the Kahurangi National Park. Day 1 invovles a relatively short but interesting track up to Mt Arthur Hut then onwards across a nearby saddle where they leave the track and find a great tenting spot.
Follwing some light rain, Day 2 sees continuation along the saddle before joining a track leading down to the historic Flora Hut and then back out to the Flora car park.
This is a great walk if you are new to tramping, have young children or just don't want to walk too far yet get to experience the feeling of isolation and wilderness in New Zealand's natural beauty.
All in all a short but hugely rewarding hike and a great way to create special memories.

So cool to see you introducing the next generation to the outdoors. My son is only three but he has already reignited my passion for adventure. I plan to take him up to Flora for his first over nighter soon!

Love this! I’ve been up and down Mt Arthur, stayed at the hut, been in and out of the Table Lands, stayed at Salisbury Lodge and been over Gordon’s Pyramid many times over. But I’ve never been from the Mt Arthur track direct to Flora Hut past Clouston’s Mine! Oh, and my son’s first tramp was as an 8 yr old with me too 😊

Yes loved this trip with Emma. Kev and I have done all the Tablelands as well which is some of the best tramping given it is so accessible from Nelson.

Great video Sam (and Emma 👍) brought back memories of when I did the same loop with my kids. Sam and Kev your videos are fantastic for showcasing exactly what people can expect so you can really plan and work out whether it will suit what you are looking for.
