Mt Cartier, near Revelstoke BC, is home to Canada's highest abandoned fire lookout station. It is no surprise then that it is a long and strenuous hike to the top. With 16km (one way) and 2250m of elevation gain, it is an absolute beast of an endeavor. After surviving the grueling hike, the summit has offers one of BC's fascinating abandoned fire lookout towers and a killer 360 view.
Likely not being spry enough to make the round trip in one day, I opted to spend the night on the summit just like the 'lookouts' that lived up there as far back as the 1920s.
