Thanks Virgil! I was stationed at Clark from 86 to 91 as a 3rd SPS. I took my wife and daughter to Subic then put them on a ship and returned to Clark till September 91. I have seen all your videos from several years back but lost track of you. Brings back memories! I can't believe your not getting more views. Maybe it's just hard to get the word out to fellow members of Clark during that time period. Good luck and thank you for bringing back these videos and the additions you've made. Take care!!

My husband was stationed there in 1971-1973 and I joined him there with our first child. The sunsets were beautiful! I miss our house girl, her name was Ida Tua and after we came home she married Benny and had several children. Over the years I’ve lost her address, if you have any way to find people like that please send me a text. God bless all our military! Thank you for your videos!

I was 11 at the time. We were lucky we left PH to go to the U.S back in 88-89. I heard about it yrs later. Didn't really affect me much cause being a child nothing phases you. Now I'm an adult I find myself being sad going down the memory lane. Best memories there.

It is unbelievable families were allowed to just abandon their pets and leave them with food and water but no way to escape the eruption. Eventually family pets did travel to Travis AFB at least. A hangar on base would eventually have some 200 crates.

Thanks for sharing the old memories, I've remember that day like it was yesterday when I was stationed aboard the USS Midway, because we also helped with the evacuation of American and Filipino citizens from Subic Bay & Clark airbase and when President George H Bush 41 told President Maria Corazon Aquino that America was not going to pay for all of the cleanup eruption of Mount Pinatubo, but only on the U.S. military bases, so she decided not to renew our leases of the military bases in the Philippines and they were all shutdown.

Hi Virgil! I believe I have seen all of your videos! Thank you, they bring so many good memories to me. I was stationed at Clark 86 - 91. I was a cop so I had to stay after the eruption. Took my wife and my 1 year old daughter to Subic and put them on a ship, then convoyed back through Clark to help pack up homes and resources. Looks like you were there about the same time as I was. Did you work with Rusty Barfield? My daughter turned 1 year old on June 12th, the day of the first eruption. Wish you had more footage. I could spend days watching these. Thank you!

i was just a middle school kid then, but i remember a typhoon blowing in at the same time as the 2nd eruption and 72hrs of pitch darkness. there was a massive earthquake only a year before that brought down a ton of buildings and weakened several structures. and most rooves werent really pitched and collected a ton of volcano dust. add the massive rains basically created huge weight on buildings that werent structurally sound to begin with. and then tremors from the volcano.... hopefully it will be the only giant mushroom cloud i will ever see, but it was a pretty awesome sight even if the danger was imminent

Lived it, hated the outcome. Forced back to the US. One funny anecdote, they offered s truck of apples to all the girls of Subic not allowed to leave. We were amazed how far they could throw them back to us. Especial memory of downing gallons of kool aid on the USS Midway, only to get sick the next day from jet fuel leaking into the water system. Good times. The ash is still visible in front street of my house here after 32 years.

imagine if this happens today, with no US forces stationed in Clark, the inhabitants would have no assistance at all.
