This is a summary of a hike up to the top of Mt. Timpanogos in Utah's Wasatch Range on Auguest 5, 2023. This is an 11,753' peak. We took the Timpooneke Trail out and back for a total distance of 15 miles and about 4200' of total elevation gain. Great hike!

i love to hike and am in great shape, but i do have a fear of heights. how bad would you say this hike really is in terms of being close to the edge? watching gopro footage makes it hard to tell. obviously a lot of people hike it, so it can’t be too bad.

I've been on far worse, but there are a couple spots in the last few miles that someone with a fear of heights might consider rough. If you do attempt it, keep your head down, watch your foot and hand holds, breathe, and know your limits. It would also help to take a friend. My son has a pretty good fear of heights and he did this with me. Got through it. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the updated video for this year's hike. Aspen mirror way looks alittle nicer but I may try this path for something different

Up Timponeeke and down Aspen Grove trail August 25, 2023. We also ran into many trail runners but didn't ask them how many times they had gone up and back down. I did Timp 13 years ago, Timponeeke and back down, and luckily had forgotten how tough the trail was from the saddle up to the hut. I have a decent respect (okay, fear) of heights but was able to get it done again. It helps immensely if there are other people around so you can see how to get up some of the spots. Coming back down from hut is much easier as you can see the trail from different perspective. Great video and pictures.
