Big day on the 2nd tallest mountain in California linking a technical ridge climb to a 50 classic ski descent.
9pm start with no sleep and almost 5 miles of ridge got me to the summit in 17hrs 9min.
The Giant Steps Couloir is a 50 classic ski descent and offered up a unique position, I found the firm snow to be nice and edgeable/consistent.
The slog out isn't shown... But that may have been the hardest part of the day...

The hike up would blow up the ski legs of 99.9% of us. Nice jump turns and even better job at not dying. Pucker Factor 10+

My legs were quite tired after 17 hours of movement for sure haha I considered not skiing Giant Steps but I still felt very capable

Then section between the East and West Horns took me 2hrs and was maybe a quarter mile... so many times I would get to the top of a rock pinnacle and look over and realize I needed to back track... Definitely got the beta wrong

Insane linkup! Surprised to see it so low tide (at 2:45 especially). Do you still think the couloir is skiable now in late May?
@MattRandall9
@MattRandall9 Год назад
I think it is probably still skiable, but thats very subjective... I ski a lot f stuff that most would say isn't skiable per say... If there's still ample snow, it'll still be very firm for sure
