The system is due for a major overhaul. A lot of that equipment is extremely old. Wires are probably old and full of asbestos so it's not like thy can just rip it out either. Takes time that requires sutting down service. We seen what happened with the L train. It just couldn't wait any longer but that has to happen to the whole system. I wouldn't be surprised if they still use old fuses and they blow all the time because we overload the electrical system.

@phantomcruizer
@phantomcruizer 5 лет назад
Ji Akira The reason is MTA doesn’t want to take responsibility for the sick/injured passenger! The delay is the MTA waiting for another city agency ie, NYPD, NYFD (for fires) or EMS to come and take charge of that passenger. Potential lawsuits , not the paying customers, are paramount in the minds that run MTA day to day operations!

Second, he has an extensive record of fixing major transit systems across the world, he definitely has some potential for NYCT. Thirdly, if anything, we _need_ a foreigner. I'm pretty sure the US has some of the worst transit in the world. As much as I love this country, nobody here has a fucking clue on how to get transit done right. MTA workers that work in the booth have a simple job but take it for granted, they treat their customers poorly and they're extremely rude. Simply asking for help means getting screamed at, and all they do is just sit there, but not all, but many just have this behavior that they don't want to be bothered at all. I am discouraged to ask for assistance by MTA workers that work in the booth. They're supposed to serve the public, yet they lack proper etiquette and good customer service. The entire rail system in NYC and greater NY (Metro North & LIRR) needs an extreme makeover. Without it, the public transport system in NY will rot.

It costs less than the NYC Subway to go to upstate New York on the Metro North 😂 I know the NYC Subway doesn't go upstate I'm just saying like on the Metro North to get from a station in the Bronx to Grand Central terminal is like 75 cents oh my gosh that is so cheap

Can they not find an American and a native ny er to head the mta? Someone who grew up riding in the subways and kinda knows a little bit about them. Instead of a brit or aussie? Just might work out a little better. And about the guy powering his tv off the 3rd rail...ahhh no. 3rd rail is 600- 750 volts dc current. A tv works off 120 volts ac. Ain't happening. Would fry instantly

The reason why the fares keep going up is because the TA workers pay keeps going up,thanks to their stupid union. They have thousands of employees and still can't operate the system correctly.

While visiting family in NYC I’ve never see so much garbage in one area and so many rats. On one of the stations a rat was cut in half by the train and the station smelled like the entire place was a public bathroom.
