This race was definitely on a different level, and one of the best ones over the last few seasons, and that's saying a lot! Snowshoe never disappoints. What a race!
I’m from the future. This years coverage from GCN UCI sucks. At least we have MoiMoi TV, VitalMTB and Ed bull media covering some of this years races. Redbull had the best coverage
Pierron is the fastest man on a bike, he is not afraid, he is pushing the limit, he has no fear. He is willing to fall, He is willing to hurt himself, and he did, he is just the fastest. He has no fear... 2 years out, and a NASTY falll in Andorra, congrats Pierron, I have no words.
Indeed it is a great loss for all fans of downhill mountain biking. Rob is such an enthusiastic and professional person that you wonder who can replace him at Discovery... In any case, it will be without me, I won't pay!
I love the commentary at 4:24... he's back ? No one, with the speed of Amaury in this section, would have imagined that he was late. What is even more incredible is that he was able to overcome this delay at the bottom of the course...
One thing i notice about Pierron this year is that, gone are the days where he is riding on borderline recklessness. Abit more calm and compose this year, yet he is winning left right center.
If you do the math, men's winner is 1.25 times faster. In terms of velocity energy it is even 1.25*1.25=1.56x riskier. I beliefe that's why women look so much slower here. The habitual experience of life is that twice the speed means much more than twice the possible pain. In fact doubling the speed means quadrupling the energy.
@@choanlpoto And you shouldn't be allowed to speak your mind, but hey this is a free world so woman are televised and the sad person you are is sadly allowed to breath.
Only 2 downhill races left in the season. For those who love downhill and need something to watch during the off-season, may I suggest: Cheese rolling. Put "cheese rolling" in the search box above and get ready for some of the gnarliest downhill action you've ever seen, with injuries the rule not the exception. And the prize is worth almost as much as the huuuuuuuge checks UCI pays downhill winners.....
I didn't know there was that big of a disparity in speed between the men and women. It was almost a minute. Not trying to disrespect anyone, because they both look really fast.
saying "race of the year", and only showing the winning runs is crazy! 🥴 watched the live stream but would be nice to rewatch at least the top 3 runs, or some highlights of other runs?!? wouldn't be hard to do... or let someone else do it... should show the top 20 results in these recaps, and the championship standings... like at the end of the live stream!
You can watch the entire replays on Red Bull TV. Just scroll forward to the races you want to watch. There's even a little bar below the video screen with markers showing which racer starts at that point.
There just aren't that many women who race downhill. They only had 20 women try to qualify and they had 15 spots in the final. (There were more than 40 men's juniors who tried to qualify, for sake of comparison.) The gap from 1st to 8th in the women's race was over 35 seconds. In the men's the 8th place guy was only 5.5 seconds back from the winner.
I hope they get some new casters when the UCI changes hands. Theres something about a loud, abnoxious british dude that really ruins the vibes. Its fine for soccer, but not for mtb or other extreme sports.
