Apartheid is a reality...thats why by economic standards we have high inequality..unfortunately systematic oppression that was designed to give the majority lower education, limit the places they could live in en by default they received less income means they do have less leverage en honestly means they have less options that the race that persecuted them has in general. With that said where we are now is not purely apartheid fault.
@@bridgetkasi4414 agree aparthied is a reality... where ANC is applying more racist laws than the racists even did.. but you fail to remember that the ANC chose wealth distribution instead of wealth creation. When you redistribute wealth, everyone gets poorer... the wealthy leave and business suffers... It has less to do with apartheid than laziness and intentional destruction of the future.
@AndrewMcFarlane_1 The apartheid government was able to take care of its minority population better coz their numbers were less. So they were able to ensure their areas had better housing and infrastructure etc. ANC promised black people they would also " take care of them" without truly understanding that was not feasible without growing the economy given the sheer size of the black population even if they werent corrupt. Sadly redistribution will not achieve the equality that is intended because the pie isn't growing, I agree with u. We need to increase the pie by creating the right environment to attract business. We need to get the basics right. Whilst poverty and inequality impacts ppl personally, to fix it we need to think broader than the person en work towards creating the environment and systems where people have equal access to opportunities. Whether ppl fully utilized those opportunities that's a personal choice.
@bridgetkasi4414 in the 50s the numbers were lower for all races but today it will be harder for the ANC in the government to make this ideological change. Pragmatically, it will possibly place the ANC back to a majority but, I don't think it's able.
