That Otawara into Reckless Charge made me drop my jaw, was pretty sure there are no outs left for them. Awesome content as always, sir, happy you finally got your hands on historic and i'm hungry for more!
Yoo no worries! Yeah Diviner is still really solid especially after it got unnerfed and Bowmasters got hit but it's really the newer supporting cast of creatures like Peddler/ Giver etc that enable it to still put in work.
I have been hanging out in high mythic with greasefang and my deck looks a lot like this one outside of the "combo" pieces. Cool to see the Evangel synergies and this take on connive.
Great video as always. I was wondering if it would be an idea to make a short video to talk about the decks that you think are well positioned in the format (historic) at the moment and your reccomendations for the upcoming qualifier weekend. Because honestly i'm not too sure on which deck to pick and it would be also interesting to hear your thoughts on this topic
Would definitely love to see videos of any of the decks you've been working on, Under the Meta or otherwise. It's always interesting to see your deckbuilding process regardless of whether or not the deck ends up being tier 1. Probably a silly question, but would you consider running Jegantha companion in this deck since you're already running mana confluence and meet the companion restriction? Or do you think the fact that you need a mana confluence in play to cast it and that you already have enough card advantage in the deck as is makes it not worth giving up the 15th sideboard slot?
again great deck and wildcards killer as usual. how about you revisit your old #1 historic decs like e.g. bant hammtertime and see if they still work in current meta or therer are now tools/cards for the deck from newer set. make this a new series like #1 decks revisited. reuse old #1 decks is big for us to save on wildcards
Hey, at last another historic video from you! Thanks a lot :) i'm hoping to see more of those in the coming future. Recently i played against esper control with diviner of faiths, Calims, Tefery hero of Dominaria, Wandering Emperors, and a bunch of removal/counters. I quite liked the deck. Do you think it is viable in the current meta, or more aggressive decks are in advantage?
Yoo no worries! Should be more to come over the next few weeks. I think those control lists are cool and I haven't played them much recently so I could be wrong but I much prefer traditional draw-go control because I feel one of the big advantages of playing control right now is having counterspells available to stop the combo decks going off and having to tap out for a 3 drop seems quite risky. Diviner in a control shell is definitely a strong value engine, I just think it fits better in this sort of deck where you want to be tapping out and not holding mana open very often.
I didn't know Diviner of Fates returned to be a 2/3. I looked it up and a lot of cards were unnerfed 2 months ago. They really should have announced it.
What do you think of your historic transmogrify decklist for the upcoming qualifier. With both bowmasters and ring gone it must have gone up in the meta?
Looks fun. Not sure if I want to spend 22 rare wildcards on it -- though, as a non-Historic player, 12 of those are lands that I'll probably end up crafting some day.
Interesting idea! I did actually consider that a couple of times but I think spots where you'd put it into hand to connive are usually spots where you're flooded out with lands and so would prefer to connive first in case you find something to cast with the mana, and all 15 sideboard cards have felt pretty important so I don't think it's worth it personally but it is an interesting option for sure.
awesome content hugh respect always on the top of the top, I dont like historic since they add alquemi but your content is so good that I enjoy even alquemi cards, even do, dont play it at all
@@anitkythera4125 point is mtg arena is not fun beacause you see always the same deck import from internet. people have 0 skill and originality. and you are one of them!
@@mikejensen233 people play always the same deck. after 2 cards max you know exactly the deck of the opponent. it s upset beacause there are 10k cards and people use only 5 decks that are the exactly copy of internet deck. what is fun on that? copy import play. STOP. 0 skills. 0 creativity/originality.
@@zia1043 Not everyone has fun in building decks, some just like to play and learn good competitive decks. For example, if I want to build a deck, I prefer doing it in draft while in constructed I like to try and learn meta decks (and not build a garbage deck and lose with it). In any case, you should be happy when players like altheriax post new lists, it helps diversify the meta with more viable decks
Yee it's been so sweet to play with Diviner again. Sheoldred is definitely an interesting option especially when you're already running a lot of protection effects but it didn't really feel necessary to me since Wizards now have Flame of Anor as a clean answer, the deck already feels capable of holding it down against other aggro decks, and most of the other decks trying to go bigger than you are infinite combos where Shelly doesn't really help (outside of Yawg specifically), or midrange/ control where they're likely to have spot removal for it. If other aggro decks like Humans or Phoenix start seeing more play then I'd definitely be more interested, and if you did want to run it you could consider it as a 2 of in place of Rona but I didn't really want to increase the curve, and you'd have less ways to trigger Diviner/ fix your early draws without Rona too which would make you weaker vs grindy decks.
