Great video on a competitive deck. Of course, I appreciate the jank and Legend brews like anyone else, but your insight is also very useful for the competitive meta decks. Noticed 15 cards in the minimized sideboard during deck tech. I know you've generally stuck with Bo1, but I think a Bo3 video or explanation (on any of your decks) would add a lot of depth to your content and possibly draw in more competitive-minded viewers. Just a thought. Loved the vid and keep doing what you do!

I love Izzet Phoenix, it's one of my most favorite deck to play in Arena! I did replace Augur of Bolas with Discovery//Dispersal and it run so much smoother for me now. No more whiffing and potentially putting a much needed land or Phoenix to the bottom of my library.

I have everything but three Finale of Promise, so I tossed in three Discovery//Dispersal in its place and I think they are great in this deck...

I played a lot of this deck before War of the Spark, and it’s really fun when it works, but I hated playing out the games where I didn’t find a Phoenix in the top ~30 cards of my library. Even if it only happened like 10% of the time it was enough to make me stop playing

I hate izzet Phoenix but I watch all of legends videos. I'm a die hard. I been here since he was averaging 200 views. I'm gonna be here when he hits 1million. Keep it up legend. You're the reason I crush my friends. I've learned a lot watching you since magic 2015

What is wrong with Phoenix? I prefer to see and play against Phoenix x1000 more than Esper Control.

@@Angel24Marin honestly I dont really like blue much anymore. Used to be my favorite but 15 years of playing blue it gets kinda .. eh. I like simic style blue. Theres nothing wrong with Phoenix I'm just not a fan of it.

I dont think the phoenixs is what makes the deck unfair, its the finale of promise imo, such a great card with so much synergy if u build a deck with good sorc/inst ratio. Too bad small teferi shits all over it. But I even run 2 copies of finale of promise in my pure grixis control and its worth it if u go 50/50 inst sorc on ur removal cut all counters and make a very spell based control deck, been working wonders so far.

24:05 Staying back with the Drake is the play here, in the offchance that they don't have the last 2 damage they need, it's the only out. With that attack you've basically killed yourself by your own. Their hand could be lands or/and creatures. The Chandra plus could have missed. It's extremely unlike, but not completely impossible. So why not trying?

I spent a lot of craft cards to build this deck, but I can't get over Gold rank tier 4. I have a several versions. This one in the video, version with electromancer, version with God Eternal, version with Saheeli. I loose 7 from 10 games. Mono blue tempo and Merfolks are more successful.

Could have tried a different line where we burn their creatures and shock Chandra. Once I committed to finding Phoenix we were all-in. Although a Shock or Lightning would still have beaten us. Either way you look at it we were pretty dead.

What do you sideboard for this deck? I'd expect nagate and cannonade maybe, but cannonade kills phoenix, so I wonder if there is an alternative when fighting token decks... Saheeli maybe?

Not many token decks in BO3 at the moment but Cannonade and Saheeli can help vs go-wide decks like White Weenie. M20 will bring a nice upgrade over Cannonade.

Yeah because taking half ur life instead of bouncing just to avoid the extra card draw is definitely worth it ..

Ryan Caputo no need to be a complete ass dude. Bouncing the drake just gives the opponent an extra card when they replay it. You’re just delaying your death when you don’t have counterspell back up or a kill spell.

how good is augur of bolas over goblin besides making spells cheper he dosent make your phoneix go to the bottom which feels horrible when that happens

Yeah i dont get the sudden addition of augur that everyones running in the phoenix deck now. The deck already has plenty of digging and augur just feels terrible when you send phoenix or needed lands to the bottom. I just run 2 goblin and a saheeli to make a bunch of chump blockers

The top of your deck is random, so Augur could also get you closer to finding Phoenix for all you know. It feels bad sometimes, but it doesn't matter.

You can add Burning Prophet instead. The scry ability is pretty nice and can hit Planeswalkers harder.

It's not ideal, but there are a lot of ways to get Teferi off the board and it's the best card in the deck in most matchups.

Neven It is a fairly easy to build deck as it doesnt revolve around too many rares if you feel like playing it yourself. It is also far less annoying to play against than f.e. Esper
