*Magic Aids* : Here is a deck to combat the Meta once more! *Plays against his own boros prison deck, designed to crush decks like this* *Magic Aids* : "Oh no."
Building it now. Hope to have it finished this month with only a slight change. I have three Surgical Extractions that I will run instead of the graveyard hate he ran. The deck obviously has issues but it looks fun.
Literally the most creative and one of the best deck builders the modern format has ever seen I cannot wait for modern horizons to see what crazy deck you brew up
I like the ending where you gave the full results on the deck, made it transparent that the deck is good for what it was designed for. Also like story time, keep up the good videos n decks my inbred friend
The moment I saw Humans decks running Anafenza in the main in all the current decks in the last 3 months I knew I probably shouldn't get into modern rn
I'm not really a meta player nor follow it, but I love the Obliterator. What I did for my Obliterator deck is add fight spells to the deck. Wich resulted in many opponents just instantly conceding.
Your modern content is the biggest thing that gives me hope for the format. You always find a way to put together old pieces into a new shell and actually brew without just using the same old archetypes and actually make a competitive deck at the same time.
Fun deck. Against ANT, when they had Leyline out, you should have been Inquisitioning yourself during storytime to get more (useless discard) spells into the graveyard, so that Pteramander could be adapted sooner.
Love the synergy of TITI, and Obliterator. Bummed that the deck went ~50%. Appreciating the uptick in content as well as the continued pursuit of beating the metagame!
@@MagicAids Need to fart hard as much as possible! Mainboard surgical extraction? You've had great success with your prism decks in the past, maybe we can see another one? One of my favorites was the use of Sarkhan with the bait and switch.
Perhaps a good strategy might be running extirpate and surgical extraction in conjunction with the inquisition and thoughtseize...you could destroy their deck directly before they can play their key cards
Cremate cycles, which is very important to help continue turning on TitTi. The others are strictly card disadvantage unless you're lucky enough to hit something in their hand.
MY DUDE!!! I love your decks man they are great. And your commentary is absolutely hilarious ! I wish you where an Mtg commentator for tournaments lol it would be fantastic!
I definitely feel this deck; tried something around the horror synergy last year but didn't think to go all in on Titi like this does. But wondering about Scarab Feast for Cremate? Doesn't cantrip, but the 3 cards seems meaningful to exchange for cycling for cantrip. Also, has the key 'up to' so it's not hamstrung. Also, this build seems like pulling an Obliterator and a Pteramander for two Snap Casters could give it some flexibility and second wind, plus Titi bounces Snappy of course.
Horror only matters against phoenix and you already dodge the lightning bolt with most of your creatures. Spellskite would be good against black decks to protect obliterator from fatal push, but then the horror argument is no more
I liked Mr.Scoobster's suggestion of Spellskite. Also possible is Lightning greaves. You can spare at least the peek for that and maybe an extra Pteramender, going down to 2. I think I'd want 3 of any combination of Skite and Greaves, though not sure what to cut other than the peek. On the sideboard, since your deck is weak to creatures, I really think that you could dump the countersqualls and one ravenous trap for 3 Go for the throats.
In the creature match ups I like to have fight cards when obliterator is out however I do run a GB build w/ Eldritch Evolution to find the obliterator easier
im building this deck currently but i was thinking that if you knock down 1 ravenous trap, put a second collective brutality in the mainboard replacing peek and put 2 spellskites sideboard it can help provide more defense for creature decks like elves and bogles as well as burn decks (and live through the bouncing from thing in the ice). to help get around blood moon i may suggest taking out 2 marsh flats or just one marsh flat and one urborg for 2 basic swamps? Although i am still trying to figure out how to make tweaks to it to provide a decent match up against humans and spirits. its still a work in progress obviously lol either way im a huge fan of this deck set up.
Against aggro, you could toss in a Flaying Tendrils, the only thing on your side that it kills is an unbuff Pteramander. Also I'm really not sure you need a dismember in the sideboard, your deck already makes large creatures for parity and can kill or bounce their stuff pretty well. On top of that, Murderous Cut kills about the same kind of targets if you think you do need that extra kill spell. Not sure what you can do about enchantments and artifacts that manage to resolve, might be worth splashing green for abrupt decay, assassin's trophy, or nature's claim.
I know I am late but why not double Inquisition yourself at 13:55 to have a chance of buffing the Pteromander? Or at 14:27 to also remove counters from Thing?
Well, it did its job and fell to aggro and hardcore control decks as you predicted. Nicely done. On a different note, Obliterator makes me want to see one of those janky "all creatures able to block ___ must do so" cards in action. But that requires a Golgari build. Still, that might work in getting turn 3 Obliterator. Would you be interested in trying that out?
This deck has had some decent additions, cling to dust, murderous rider, bloodcheifs thirst & drown in the loch - it's definitely worth brewing around with
Awesome deck there, one of the better recent ones, keep up the fantastic content :) Maybe a little more anti-creature stuff in the sideboard, and a little less anti-control/combo?
Its almost like having some sort of draw spell, maybe one that fills your graveyard AND lets you filter your hand might help this deck be a little faster. Possibly fast enough to beat aggro decks? Goodness you'd have to draw at least two cards and put at least two in the graveyard. The mana cost on such a card would have to be somewhere around 1-mana... Maybe it could have flashback? That's right, unban deathrite shaman! :D
Sick deck bro. You could also play it Grixis. You could play 1 or 2 Looting main like GDS does to filter out lands. Access to KCommand, Abrade, Claim//Fame, and Lightning Bolt could also improve the deck's weak aspects, like weak removal against creatures and artifacts, and going too all in on the creatures sticking to the board. Casting Obliterator gets way harder though, unless you only add Blood Crypts and cards that only require 1 Red source.
Even if it doesn't win a lot, the fact that it wins to Phoenix decks is enough for having it, specially to be played after you got destroyed by those Phoenix on a league. If someday I'm an excentric millionaire I'll buy this deck. Thanks you Daddy for fighting the meta.
I am torn. The deck looks hella spicy and interesting but you said it lost pretty badly against Merfolk and BW DnT. Both of which are my pet decks in Modern. I hope you fine tune this list more. It looks super promising. Thank you for the content
Unmoored ego or invasive surgery against prison decks? Mark of eviction for creature decks? reset the counters on affinity and humans, turn your discard back on etc.
@Magic Aids maybe you should attack izzet deck from a different angle, like making them not able to draw so many cards. Try Spirit of the Labyrinth in the spirit shell maybe? it is a 3/1 so a lord make it a 4/2 that can smash through Thing in the ice, and captain can give it hexproof to protect it.
After seeing this can horror tribal be a thing for modern. Semi competitive or something. Cards in my mind so far is 4 aether vials, 4 phyrexian obliterater, 3-4 Gisela the broken blade, 4 cavern of souls, maybe 4 thing in the ice(might be too hard to flip in the deck), 2-4 phyrexian revoker and spellskites, 4 gnarlwood dryad, 4 despoiler of souls, 4 4 eternal scourge, 4 mesmeric fiend, then idk or really remember if that new card cabal thereapist is going to be modern legal but if it is it may go into the deck.
why weren't you blocking with Thing in the Ice G1 against affinity? Do they run Lightning bolt sometimes? Galvanic blast would kill TITI anyways. Edit: Oh, I see you started to block with it on game two.
I watched this new, but now after etb torpor orb /phyrexian dreadnought... I wonder about t2 hunted horror, t3 thing in the ice & when thing flips, the two centaurs would go bye bye... squeeze in "price of betrayal" to take counters off the thing on t3 and also there is a UU bounce all creatures of the same name in case you don't draw thing... Could also play eldrazi free counter spell as the power is up there on both
No Phyrexian Revoker, Spellskite, or (And this last one is only kind of a joke) Chasm Skulker? Also, it might be worthwhile to have one of those MB Cremates and 2 of the SB Ravenous Traps be Cyclonic Rift, since Chalics really screws with you. (Although to be fair, you can still flip Thing by casting and letting spells get countered). As for creature decks, perhaps Yahenni's Expertise.
