Dev, I hope you’ve gotten to see my comments on your last couple videos because I don’t want to drag on here again. However, you need to know how incredible your footprint on the Mtg community is. Your passion and love for the game is so genuine, as well as the care of your fan base. It really brings out the best people to be fans of tour content. You’re the only RU-vidr I know of ANY game that can apologize for bringing up how to help your channel

Me when Dev says he could do a video about X: YES, DO IT! now seriously, you could do a video about the past mis-evaluations from the top 25 of the rotating sets. To learn and improve our thought process, ya know?

Your set reviews are my favourite part of this channel Dev. Have you thought about doing re-review videos, where you analyze what you got right and wrong on your past prediction vids (maybe these top 25 lists)?

Lotus Cobra was a key piece in the deck called Mythic Bant. It was a top deck in beginning of the original Zendikar format along with Jund, Naya, and RDW. Once WWK and ROE were released it would morph into Mythic Conscription which lasted until 7/2010. It was featured in a variety of decks after that like mono-green Elves, but when SOM dropped it became a key piece in Temur Control. It was even used in some versions of Valakut Ramp throughout it's life in Standard. Lotus Cobra was a pretty important card even though it was lost in the shadow of JtMS. It complimented JtMS nicely because of the synergy you get when using fetch lands to trigger Lotus Cobra and shuffle away Brainstorms from Jace. By mid 2011 the Cobra would be featured in the RUG Twin deck that dominated the format. It also was in Cobra Valakut, the most dominant Valakut version during this time. By late 2011 it was featured in UGX Pod decks that dominated the format. Throughout its time in Standard it was also in at least one top tier deck but usually was in most of them and by the end of its run in Standard it was in every top deck.

Turning a creature into a Coward removes all other types so no +1/+1 counters on a plant, screws up parties, etc

From what I've seen so far Nighthawk is very easy to set up, and honestly still slaps without actually doing anything to set it up. In the rogue deck it's a major player, so people better get used to seeing it because rogues is going to be a significant presence in the meta for a while I'm pretty sure.

So Ive been using this card since 1 week for the very first time in a green white token deck Ive created just for fun and I went 7-1 7-0 7-0 with the deck, only lost once with this deck so far. Its really amazing how you can put a 4/4 flyer on turn 2 on the table as intant just by doing an exile on your own 1/1 token or a gilded goose. This completely destroys red and mono white aggro in the early game and both aggro decks are afraid to attack when you got 2 mana open. Also vs control its a rly solid card so far, also vs rogue Im doing so well with this card. With this new cat vehicle or that new enchantment I can always keep creating 4/4 angel tokens, most of the time I was able to outvalue my opponent and they hadnt have enough removal spells left. Ive been playing MTGA since its release and I honestly have never seen a single person online using this card online before including myself until now. Im really surprised how good this card is.

You may be underestimating Zareth. Been on the receiving end of it, when I had like 20 cards in grave. All those times, one them was either Ugin or Garruk ... on turn four or five, thats backbraking tempo. Very high insta-concede card :). If it flashes in - and rogues do mill rather well, getting access to quite a lot of options in your grave - and you dont have insta removal, you're out. This card may be worth building around it.

I watched your sleepers video and it helped me a lot in my drafts so far.

Well after finally getting to sit back down and finish the end of the video, I gotta say I completely agree with you take on the mythic flip lands. I’ve seen these underrated quite a bit and at least for commander (what I play), it’s hard to imagine these cards being “meh” or even bad in any single one of my decks. Shoot, anyone’s deck. Even if it doesn’t synergies directly to your decks strategy they’re just GOOD on their own. Also I think Cleansing Wildfire could’ve had a spot in this 25. A 2 mana spell that can get rid of a problem land for a basic AND it replaces itself is good on its own. The part that pushes it though for me into list territory is being able to trigger another landfall hit and get the card draw still.

Deck Techs! Best Cards and sleepers was last week. In the past you have done deck techs by prerelease, and I would love to see you get back to more deck techs. That's why I started watching your channel to begin with. Seems like you've changed the equation a bit since then with more metagame analysis and gameplay. Especially during rotation season deck techs are nice to have early so we can think about different deck ideas, brew our own offshoots, or just straight up copy yours.

Realized I hadn't subscribed until this video. Was also wondering why j always had to come looking for your videos. *Hits blunt*

Yay finally my favourite video whenever a new set is out! Much love from Slovenia I agree with you about Zareth San, he's a trap as in after you have connected, he just sticks around, also leads to massive blowouts if you remove him in the combat step. It's not like the ninjas at all, just not good enough in my experience playing against it. One that has suprised me positively is Jace Mirror Mage, damn strong planeswalker whenever you have him out setting up your draws. Even more crazy with the kicker ability if you have gone later into the game and completely busted with Teferi's Ageless insight as you just draw either 2 cards with no drawback of loyalty loss or 4 cards each turn with the kicker, or for that matter, set up your draws by scrying with one and draw 2 with the other. A card draw engine for control that wins games.

Can you please make a Simic or temur Scute Swarm mutate clone deck? Really trying to work on a competitive shell for it.

Disagree heavily on the spell lands potentially being a mistake. On the contrary, I think they are amazing game design and should probably be the new norm going forward. I would love to see more of them every set, but realistically at least once a year. They reduce one of the most feelbad aspects of Magic and substitute it with actual, meaningful decision-making.

Seagate stormcaller is brutal for that cacophony spell. Or a control deck with black double casting removal. Sure there's tons of other things I can't think of but those are nice things that initially crossed my mind.

I think it's funny that no one looks at Ashaya and sees what I see.... Ashaya into Planar Cleanising or similar "destroy all nonland permanents" effects makes me smile. IMO, that's the coolest Ashaya's interaction, and I'll be making that deck pretty soon.

Nighthawk is putting in work with discard lily and it always trades with uro which is pretty huge in some matches. 👍

I've been tuning a rogue deck with Zareth in it.. And he's surprisingly easy to flash in with 1 drop merfolk windrobber (U Flying), Zareth depends on your opponent having been milled enough to pick cards.. In case you didn't catch it in the text of them, Zareth can steal lands from their graveyard as well.. Anything permanent can be taken.. Turn 4 stole Ugin once! Ah the feels

I love the Dimir Rogues deck and I agree w/ you about Zareth San. I think it's a 1-of in that deck. IMO, It's too situationally busted to leave out entirely, but it is definitely not the star of the deck that we all thought it might be when it was first spoiled. Drawing 2 of them early is such a feel-bad. As your sleeper list hinted at, I think x2 Mind Carver is a strict upgrade over copies 2 and 3 of Zareth San.

I love playing Grakmaw with The Ozolith. Makes the incoming token bigger or play a 2nd Grakmaw to buff the 1st and get a token. Shade is fun with The Ozolith too.

Forsaken monument is going in my Eldrazi tron... transform my beaters into Beatazz

All i've been running since release has been Mill Decks :) - I dont think you thought about one of the cards you mentioned in the top 25 to go in front of maddening cacophony. It definitely has a home.

Imagine having a Scute Swarm and Ashaya in play. The Scutes (now forests) trigger themselves. Is that infinite landfall triggers?

in elder scrolls legends there was a card it silenced the creature then dealt 2 damage lol. loved that card lol.

In regaurds to Rakmaw /#24 on list -A creature is a extremely powerful permanent as situations may allow this card to basically read "Grakmaw deals 3+ damage each combat phase !" Also the ability for it to replace it's self, in my opinion Is VERY underrated! ... This basically 2 for 1s your opponent while applying pressure and giving utility/reward to the wizard running it in +1/+1 counters builds as a 2-3 of Or potentially in the board although I feel it's a tad bit slow however .. Removal is not a argument to a card.. They have to play it and first they need to Be in those colors Draw the card Have the mana Opp. Doesn't have counter or cantrip Situational goes both ways I would rate this card a 3.5 out of 5. Perhaps! It's very good

I suspect Leyline Tyrant will be better when they print a Fireball type spell where you have a reason to dump a lot of mana into. Also can work well with X spell creatures like the Snek

Maybe entirely unrelated, but i'm wondering if we will get a multiset plane visit anytime soon... Because since Origins i'm not even sure we had a two set draft environment, and Origins is literal years ago... anyways, nice selection of cards, which will turn out to actually live up to their position will only be known in time, so we will see ^^

The strongest turn sequence I have seen so far is Lotus into Uro into Omnath by light years. If they find the mana they need it is gg on the spot, reminds me of Yugioh and I could only stomach

Hurt my feelings you left out Linvala. - 3 drop, 3/3, flying, protect all creatures from board wipe and when party is full prevents any creature from attacking or blocking until your nect turn...beast

I always assumed big green creatures had reach because green equals trees, trees equal branches, which interact birds and bugs and spiders and other things that fly. When I think of lush greenery I think of plants “reaching” to the sun.

My favorite combo right now is T3 Umara Mystic T4 Sea Gate Stormcaller + Unleash Fury 20/3 Umara OTK

I don't even remember Kazandu Mammoth existing. The fact that it's a land on the other side is great, but I'd almost rather ditch that to give this thing trample. The fact that it can be chumped is its biggest problem.

Man I was so excited for MDFCs at first but after weeks of being talked/yelled at over embittered debate that I never really wanted to hear about in the first place and forming my own early opinions... I am worried about them and what they mean for the future of magic.

The only thing for me is that omnath is probably going to break standard due to the play pattern you mentioned with uro. Uro is still the best card in standard and it isn't close. Anything that can supplement it is probably the best cards in the set. Great vid tho Dev

Zareth 100% worth it in my opinion taking there milled ugin or massacre wurm or just extra bodies or land fall bois is game ending its a very good card im gonna keep running but thats my opinion of course.
