A review of the 3-rail O-scale Ohio Central System EMD GP40 Diesel from MTH. More videos available on the Eric's Trains youtube channel and at www.ericstrains.com
I have a MTH custom run of the SWP in a paint scheme. It runs out of Scottdale, PA. Just another fantastic engine review. I hope MTH does a run of the restored steamer that the Reading and Northern is running right now in coal revenue service. Thanks so much Eric!
Thanks Eric. Wonderful model. Thanks for getting more videos out. You are definitely the best reviewer. Love the fact you give us the history and your point of view. Please keep the videos rolling. If you ever have the chance come visit CTG Trains on Facebook. Always having fun with my trains.
Been trying to get a pair of the gp40s - l have triple threat gp38-2-×3 and 1 gp35 but haven't been able to get the gp40s Yet , Thanks for Sharing and Happy Railroading 😊
Eric, the review was excellent as always! The PFA on this locomotive has to be the best I've heard! A great choice for the road as well! The OC paint scheme has always been one of the nicer ones out there (IMHO).
Hi Eric: I have this loco, but the non-power unit. I use it has a pusher for steam power. Also like the colors. Using MTH / WiFi with a iPhone 7 plus. Gary from Michigan 🚂
Eric after so long I have finally bought O scale stuff! I bought 12 O-54 curves. 20 10" straight pieces and a lock on for the MTH transformer I'm getting. I also am in the process of trading for an O Scale Lionel TMCC 2-8-0, NKP gondola and an NKP Lighted caboose!
Hey eric been watchin you for a while and was wondering if you could do a train review on the w.a.rr texas and general steam locimotive If you can plz get back to me and also love your videos please keep up the good work
How do the DCS boards hold up in the MTH O gauge stuff? I haven't had the best of luck with MTH in HO, burned a few DCS boards out in a couple engines, in a short amount of running time.
lol you had to say "put on the back burner so to speak" because in this day and age, some people probably would have thought you actually keep your trains on the back burner
At 7:16 you say the 1 lb. 10 oz. pulling weight is "pretty decent". I've seen the tool that measures this, so I know what this measurement is. What I don't know is, what is an "amazing" pulling weight? Is there a maker who is renowned for their pulling weight? What features of a particular model predict a strong pulling weight? This model is O scale, is it safe to assume HO scale locos pull less? Like half? Finally, do you recall the pulling weight of a HO loco that was remarkably high? I won't be upset if none of this gets answered. Happy Rails.
The steps on the front of the pilot. The were incredibly dangerous and were nicknamed "suicide steps" because crewmen who used them ran a big risk of being injured or killed. They were eventually outlawed. That's why you don't see them on modern diesels.
Brett Nelson it looks to be plastic, I say that cause it looks like it, and usually older locomotives are diecast. They still make diecast but it isn't as popular.
