Holy smokes, Brian. You’re pretty awesome with this stuff. I would have been done after I disassembled everything. LOL. I would not even remember where things are supposed to be or what updates I was supposed to do. Ha ha. Thanks for showing this. Very helpful. 😎👍🏼
Good to see another upgrade video. When attaching the side plates to the trucks, do you find the screws to attach them one time use? Way back when I had some traction tires replaced and the old screws were used again. Over time some of the screws fell out.
Hmm… I’ve never had any issues reusing them. I typically crank them down though. I can see how they might vibrate loose. Also I don’t recall ever seeing anything on the threads like loctite or anything like that. Interesting though! As always, thanks for checking out the vid Kevin! 😎
@@naxshack I should have mentioned these were set engines, both were F3 models. The screws were stripped, it seemed they were one time use screws to me.
Very nice video Brian, you make all of this look very easy, And I had no idea you were so FAST putting thise together at 5 times the speed of a normal person ha ha.
Brain I am getting ready to do the exact same upgrade. Do you happen to have the part number for the smoke fluid funnel and for the correct smoke unit? Otherwise great informative video. Also enjoyed your GP20 upgrade video.
Awesome Alan!!! Very cool you’re doing the same one! The smoke funnel pn I used is AA0000054. Unfortunately I don’t have a pn for the smoke unit. Again, I just used the standard height one and cut about a quarter inch off. If you cut it too short you can always add thin 4-40 washers as spacers if needed. As always, thank you for watching and supporting the channel! 😎
Also forgot to mention, you will need to use this brass cup to mate with the funnel; pn AA0000071. This is threaded and can be screwed into any of MTHs smoke units that are threaded.
It’s a great feeling bringing a train back to life that needed some work! Highly recommend it Brandon! I think I’ve seen that trainz offers courses, but not sure what they are like. It’s always good to be able to repair your own stuff.
