Wow the timing of this vid is crazy because I literally just started collecting the cans and bottles of all the different flavors just out of nowhere and learned a lot new info here and also it got me pissed that I didn’t save or collect a lot of discontinued flavors and cans in the past lol 🤦🏽‍♂️

Fun fact about Russian Mountain Dew story: it was always the “outsider” drink among the other drinks made by Pepsi and had the least shelf space available to it among other drinks like Pepsi/Mirinda/7UP/Evervess. We never had any other flavors except for the original one. But in summer-autumn of 2018 PepsiCo decided to “switch it up in line with their other drinks”. For some context - Pepsi and Coca-Cola were (of course unofficially and through corrupt actions) forced into switching up their product lines to be more sugar-free (hence why Fanta and Sprite from Coca-Cola are not available in sugary variants (and sugar-free ones are still called the original, but have some BS such as “more healthy than before/new and better” written on them) and all other Coke flavors except for the original one and vanilla are sugar-free; all Pepsi flavors except for the original one are sugar-free). That whole thing made the “original” Dew sugar-free, but the taste was SO off. Like it didn’t taste as if it just had sugar removed and replaced with other sweeteners or something like that, no no no, it tasted as if somebody took a LITTLE bit of cheap-ass lime syrup and added it into fucking Nestle Pure Life tap-water. Thank God that in a year, in late 2019 they realized that nobody bought the new sugar-free variant and decided to revert their actions. Because the trust of customers was broken, it now has a BIG red flag on the top of the can that says “ORIGINAL FLAVOR”.

I don't know if it's intentional, but it's actually incredibly clever marketing how I can see some of these ancient flavors and be like "oh yeah I vaguely remember that from years ago". Mtn Dew capitalizing on FOMO hard.

If you have a Sodastream and can't get Diet Fountain Mist syrup to make Diet Mountain Dew, you can get Mio Green Thunder flavored water syrup and use about 6 squirts in your 1 liter sodastream bottle after you make the fizzy soda water. Be careful to slowly make the 6 squirts so the soda does not shoot out of the bottle. You can also get cherry and other flavors to add to it in order to make the different variations of Mountain Dew, or invent your own. I'll use Walmart Great Value, Crystal Light, or other syrups for the other flavors, but you need the Mio Green Thunder to keep the Dew flavor in there. I try to keep it as 4-5 squirts Mio Green Thunder with 1-2 squirts of the other flavor so it is 6 total, to make it about the strength of the real thing, but if you want more or less syrup, then it's up to you.
