Nice! I had a Braden MU-2 on a 68 Wm300 used it all the time with a ginpole setup mostly recovering airboats. Whie i was working overseas I recovered a second Mu2 from early 50 WM300 there where several on island.
Just pulled a 1961 Braden LU2 off of a massive 30' tilt bed gooseneck that i picked up for 500 bucks. You can tell it was from a dodge because part of the fairlead bracketry is still bolted to it. Someone put a sprocket on the input shaft and ran a chain to an eaton hydraulic motor. I sold the trailer but i kept the winch. The more research i do, the happier i am with my decision to tear it off of there. Im gonna run it on my IH Loadstar 1600 with an Omaha Standard hoist, add a solid dovetail to the bed or make some ramps and i got myself a cheap car hauler lol
Nice rebuild. I like your thinking outside the box and using the JB Weld to fix the cover. All along I was thinking that you had to replace it or weld it.
She is purring like a kitten . Your timing of your components rebuilding is uncanny as soon as I get my brakes done I will be attacking the winch rebuild Jonathan I am sure like you its going to be another bearing fest in the least the only good part about that is you know absolutely what you have in the truck! Great video as always and thanks much for sharing!
It may be a while til I get to “part 2” so I’ll say this. Inspect your big bronze gear, VPW told me 3/16 is minimum for gear width. If you have to replace it VPW wants a pile of money! Mine is just barely usable.
