Agreed 100% shadow boxing is the most under utilized (but most important) training method besides sparring. Combined with conditioning drills it can teach the fighter how to mask and fight through his fatigue. Great video
No problem man! Glad I could help! Always remember, everyone around you was once in your position too! Just take your time and do what you know. If all you know is a jab, cross, then just throw a jab, cross. Also, don't worry about how you look or if people are looking at you. I always tell my students, you are gonna stand out even more if you are over in the corner, throwing non committed punches, looking around everywhere, haha. Just have fun! Good luck! Thanks for the support!
I guess im weird, shadowboxing is my favorite type of training for boxing and muay thai! This is a great video and breakdown of how to properly shadowbox.
Whats up? Shadow boxing will definitely help you keep your technique sharp. That's exactly what shadowing boxing is for. Taking notes is also good, just make sure you go back and read them, lol. In Muay Thai, or any martial art for that matter, repetition is key. You won't master a technique by doing it a few times. You have to practice them over and over. Try shadow boxing in the mirror so you can spot openings, etc. Hope this helps!
Hey whats up, there is no such thing as a stupid question. Ideally it is best to hit with the part of the shin about 1-3 inches above the foot. Hitting with any part of the shin will work really, but you want to utilize your range of your kicks. Plus, you will get more power this way. If you try to hit with any art of the shin higher then that, you risk getting jammed up by being to close you your target. Hope this helps. Thanks for the support!
great comparison to forms in other martial arts. never thought of it that way and completely true. dropping knowledge even for the not-so-beginners. thanks man.
Exhale through your mouth with every strike. This helps control your breathing, and take the impact on strikes in case you get hit while striking, This is why you hear guys make all kinds of crazy noises while hitting pads, it is actually them breathing or "exhaling" as they hit. Breathe in your nose and out your mouth at a steady pace until your ready to explode into strikes. A video on this won't help to much because you can't really see anything. Never hold your breath! Hope this helps!
Hey this gonna sound so stupid but ive judt started doing muay thai I havent gone to classes ive been using utube for guide ive already brought a century bob xl dummy and im just wondering what part of the shin is best to kick with because ive seen people use just literaturally above the foot and others half way up the shin? Thanks for your videos :)
I've done Muay Thai for three months now. Just starting not much experience in anything else. But I'm not going to be able to go for a few months until I save up again. I'm worried ill get rusty. Would shadow boxing keep me sharp? I've written down everything I've learned so far. Any advice? Would I be able to improve just by what I've learned.
is taekwondo i think they call it Poomsae, in english we call it forms. just minute long katas that get longer each belt. Thats all we did when i was in taekwondo and i HATED IT. now i absolutely hate everything thats even remotely similar. That being said i still see the importance. Striking the air is dif from the bag and both can teach you things about your strikes. if its weird and floundering around in the air your probably doing something wrong. If your crisp in the air but you suck on the bag your contact is off. You have to be crisp on both
