@@SubwaySam10what do you mean what were they talking about, they were talking about the early Dragon Ball days where the best so why are you saying what the fuck?
This scene was always confusing the last shit out of me. Like, water isn't free. It costs money. Sure, it's like 1,5$ for a 1000 gallons, but if you need to water an entire village for multiple months, that'd become a serious sum, I suppose.
@@JakubWojciechowski933You are talking about city water, Master Roshi was showing Nam a freely available well that no one was using. Well water is actually free in the US, its just very uncommon and of course doesn't follow city regulation practices. In the dragon ball world, well water is probably abundant in the world to the point its just readily available. Which makes a lot of sense since people can move their houses anywhere in capsules, its better to have multiple sources of accessible well water.
@@JakubWojciechowski933 water is 100% free, its actually a law that if you go to a store and ask for water they have to give it to you. at least in the US. you are talking about bottled water where you are paying for the purification and the plastic bottle container, not the water.
Yeah but theres also places where they dont have first class luxuries like america does but also do not have depression as a common thing. In fact its like a phantom theyve heard about from people of other countries They have no cellphones, no internet and have to hunt for food but they are fit from exercising everyday and every single day and every single meal is considered a gift Im honestly quite jealous of that type of life despite how hard it can be and the things im not accustomed to doing
He was still a giant fucking horndog in Dragon Ball as well, but he got sidelined hard starting in Z. It got to the point that him being powerful enough to compete in the Tournament of Power was an absurdity that only worked because it was fanservice.
@@nakedmario9359 because it's true, fucking idiot Roshi himself LITERALLY says Goku isn't a hero in the 23rd tournament saga, and Goku himself says he is NOT fighting to save the world and he does NOT care about protecting Earth at all, and then refuses to become the new Kamisama Did any of you ever watched the fucking series?
I'd like to point out that while, yes, Roshi's lessons shaped Goku's views, it was Kami that really made him understand how precious all life was. Roshi worked to keep the boys humble despite their strength, Kami worked to make Goku appreciate all things.
I love when Roshi actually gets interaction like this outside of "AWOOGA WOMAN" edit: im so sorry guys i did not mean to mix up the goat jackie chun with master roshi :(
I liked the movie where Dr Wheelo (the giant robot brain guy) wakes up from 50 days ago and the first thing he does is try to steal Roshis body cause he admired Roshi as a noble warrior since he was the world's strongest man back then.
That's where Z and super fall short for me, the original series shows each and every characters depth in abundance, roshi is a true martial artist too his core but he's also a creepy old man because the show needs comedy, bulma is a literal genius but also an airhead when it comes too guys, goku is curiosity incarnate and fights solely too learn and help, even yamcha has depth, the first real challenge of gokus adventure later turns into a guardian and friend on his journey teaching him things he wouldve otherwise never learned, and then we get too krillin, introduced as a rival for goku, he experiences his own inadequacies in abundance and yet still always puts in more effort than anyone, not a perfect person as he tries too cheat multiple times over before he realises cheating doesnt give him the results he wants, the messages in this show are just perfect for kids growing up, which is why im so very thankful i got too experience watching this show as a kid.
At childhood I never understand how much it's a Sensitive and emotional moment for them but as an adult now I can understand this moment real meaning 😍
They hold roshi to such a high esteem because of what he does for tien. He purified his corrupt soul in a single act of selflessness. He made tien watch as he walked off to certain death in his stead. Told him to live a happy life and to tell goku he was proud. Goku always sees the better in his adversaries after that
Despite the old pervert we know him as, Roshi was such a great teacher. Not just for moments like this, but for helping Krillin and Goku become the men they are and for helping Yamcha and Tienshinhan reform themselves.
Frankly, the old pervert part of the character was just to give him a flaw. Otherwise he's 'too' perfect. He did this for all of his characters, just some were more annoying than others.
They need to bring thos back. Not only were they trying to grow their strength, they also grew humanity, when goku asks for energy his friends he helped always give him some.
having no job, and being poor, it's what gave Mr.Toriyama great ideas ... and also calling just about every enemy demon from the ice realm some type of cold level, and their minions fruit names. haha.
@@imbadatusernames8206 He competed because he needed the money to buy lots of water; where he was from, there was a terrible drought, and he had been sent to find a solution. Being defeated, however, he is unable to get the money to buy water and decides to leave. Master Roshi reads his mind and gets acquainted with his intentions. He then gives him a capsule so that he can store water from a well; Nam hadn't realized that as water was plentiful in the region where the tournament was held, it was free, and he needed only a means to transport it. In return, Roshi asks Nam to impersonate him in the crowd, as to protect Master Roshi's secret identity from his students, who suspected Jackie Chun of being Master Roshi.
@Buildblok wow thanks you ruined a joke just to explain something I have already watched ......very cool what would have done with out you enjoy a joke ? Pppffftttt
There's another episode where a royal soldier urges the Earth's king to flee, and of all the voices they could've given this character suggesting a retreat, they chose a French accent
Did you not watch the same show as the rest of us? Secondly a lot of roshis powers require a pure heart. In fact a bunch of master roshis leasons and gift to goku required a pure heart. Aka flying nimbus one must be pure of heart to ride nimbus. How do think nimbus came into roshis possession?
@@im_wrong_because___________ he was too able to ride nimbus at some point in his life. Why else would he have had nimbus? He got older and became a simp(dirty old man)
@@oblitusunum6979 the brainless power scaling with no substance to feed tasteless fanboys is what made Dragon Ball dull, same with how Sharingan had every hax in Naruto. Beginnings of every superb shonen is where you truly see the most intricate and amazing writing until they fall off when the writer caters to the mindless sheep. These early days of Dragon Ball were poetic art.
@@carlocacho5733I agree. Don't forget the ludicrous notion of using the Dragon Balls to bring some one back to life repeatedly thereby ignoring any consequences of their actions.
Simple short story . Cant ever forget neither this character or his story. For your knowledge goku fought some monster dragons and now the people get water 24/7
Indeed. I remember Goku and Nam (more so Nam) were being pushed around by the dragons until their leader, Giran, flew in and recognized Goku. When Goku greeted Giran by name and his underlings said, "This little pipsqueak knows you?!?!", Giran's response was, "This 'little pipsqueak' is the one who beat me in the tournament, so show him some respect!"
@@notoriousadrian4369 no i mean each are different than the one that came before. Like dragon ball was more of an adventure more fun and silly sometimes with some more fillers you coukd call it it was also more about skill and learning with the whoke show them going around on an adventure and training the only threats were the RR and piccolo. Dragon ball z explores more about transformation and goku's past and his saitan origen and dealing with enemies more closely tied to him in this version it's less about learning you skills and fighting styles and more aboyt mastery especially his transformations. Aside from king kai we don't see him go explore new techniques but instead it follows up by him mastering and advancing himself thisvis were he starts to get truely stronger and mature more. Gt this one is more about dealing with past mistakes and learning to rely on yourself instead of relying on magic or wishes to fix your problems and just revive everyone. This one is about going back and regaining a part that was forgotten and thrown smt that was believed to be useless after getting ssj. It delces more into space than the last one and explores how vast their universe is. With old enemies returning of both goku and vegeta. It ends and starts with goku passing on his mantel as protector of earth after getting a student. Super this one delves less into skill or saiyan transformations and more into divinity a power. It follows more of the godly realm and involvement of multiple universes. It's more flashy for younger audiences and goku seems somewhat dumber while still showing his battle genius.
@@CHADCONTEXT He is since the Old Piccolo killed his wife. If you think about it - he is strong, influencal and experienced. He could get any woman he want (except 18 maybe). But all he does is reading magazines and making half hearted attempts to touch some boobs.
Master Roshi shows his philanthropist side a few times, like curing a werewolf after the moon got destroyed by Roshi's own hand... simply using Kurriran's/Krillian's shiny bald head and a bit of hypnotism.
It's because people got to like DBZ that basically is a superhero series with muscle guys flying and shooting lasers, but original Dragon Ball which is a fairy tail about journey in the world of wonders doesn't look like that most of time
Notice how when the kid asked Nam if he won the tournament all he said was "I got water" lol. My mans said they don't need to know I got my azz beat 😂😂😂
It was edited, those were different episodes. You actually find out that the reason the village was short on water was because another fighter at that tournament's people built a hot tub at the river mouth. Goku breaks the dam it and solves the water problem permanently.
Roshi taught a generation how to be stern and kind, how to except ppl from every walk of life and that of you put your mind to in even an average man can do extraordinary things!! Master Roshi will forever be the GOAT 🐐
It was nice to see the aftermath in the anime. The manga just left it at Nam saying goodbye to Roshi and the readers were left to assume that everything turned out well.
Never been so motivated to watch OG Dragon Ball until seeing this clip. I thought the show was all about villain of the week and power creeping up to infinity.
The original Dragon Ball is more of a comedy adventure series, which slowly develops elements of drama, I highly recommend it. The show is serialized, so it's best to watch the show from the beginning, however, if you'd like to know, the clips in this short are from episode 25 and episode 29.
That's why OG Dragon Ball is my favourite... It's just magical and special... this was the first anime I watched, and it still is one of my favourite, even after 20 years after watching it for the first time
Master roshi is honestly hands down the most respected db charecter in my eyes he tought our heros hes saved our beloved charecters hes given hope to the weak he fought when he seen everyone was hurt he proceds to suprize us all each time mans is hands down the honest most humble charecters in db mans needs more and more time
Helping someone in their time of need with bo expectation of reward or being paid back, when you have something and someone has nothing is a great gift. Such wonderful lessons.
Many people don't know that master roshi is one of the well written charater nowadays people who skip dragon ball just see him as pervy old man and don't even talk abt his sacrifice in top tournament
Some days ago a read through the entirety of dragon ball classic, that moment was touching. The most touching. Cause there are people with this problem in the real world. Master Roshi could have not cared, but he knew it, something that is nothing to you can be much for someone else.
Too bad most of people didn't know it Because they're just think everything is about Super Saiyan transformations and getting stronger to beat strong opponents In OG they give a story about side character and give them a screen time where we see who and why they're here I bet most of people didn't know Roshi once use Krillin bald head and make it look like a full moon to help werewolf guy become human again in tournament Or The fact that Yamcha accidentally squeezing Bulma chest because he thought it was Dragon Ball
My favorite dragon ball character. He was so smart and such a skilled fighter. As time went on, they brushed aside all the skills he had. So many to choose from.
Master Roshi is a great man, despite his pervertedness. He made those who lost feel like winners too. He defeated Goku as Jackie Chun, but it fueled Goku's desire to keep getting stronger! A feeling he held to this very day, even so far into Dragonball Super.
@@Thoralmir True... Goku put countless innocent lives at risk because of his desire to fight strong opponents... He needed a swift boot in the ass for it...
@@LeonidRemmel He still is a pervert, it's just that in Dragonball Super he learned how to control himself and not be such an animal. He doesn't turn feral, but he will dole out a compliment to a beautiful lady. Puar and Oolong pretty much got the worst of it in Master Roshi's self-control training... Though it was Master Roshi who got his ass pummeled over it...
Master Roshi saved literally thousands of peoples lives because of the capsule. Outside of being a complete perv, he is the greatest. EDIT: It's not that personal... you people didn't have to go all out on replies...
"Forget about it" Move well, study well, play well, eat well, rest well - That is the turtle master way. Master Roshi knows how to live, he have's knowledge of what's right and what's wrong, regonizes effort and knows what's capable of, and doesn't make the good thing to receive a "deserved" reward, but because it's the right thing to do, that's actualy shown by master way, by his studants, and by himself in moments such as that one. Not someone pure of heart, but more than can be noticed at first.
One of the many things I've learned from dragon ball is to be kind and treat people with respect and kindness and help those people less fortunate than your self R I.P. Akira Toriyama thank you for everything.
Prime example of respecting the elders. Roshi didn't care about a fight, a tournament, or proving anything. He cared about others and focused on what's important and helping people.
It's illegal. There was a village that made it's own water mill and windmills and the government confiscated it all and made the people pay rent on the houses they made. There is no winning when it comes to the government. You are either for your country or against it. There is no middle ground. Roshi may have helped but whoever owned the water in nams country would have had him killed and the water stolen like the game sand land that just came out showed.
Even when roshi was old he was always that reliable goat of wisedome in dragon ball but now he's reduced to an crazy old version of Jonny Bravo but i still love him tho because he's so reliable!!😁
You act like he didn't travel to and from both regions. It can be done as many times as needed and he didn't have to resort to violence for his region to prosper.
Jackie Chun was such a nice guy. He even asked the man the simple favor of dressing like Roshi since he knew Goku, Krillin and Yamcha wanted him to be there.
What master roshi did was commendable but looking at nam showing sincere gratitude was beautiful to see Also nam returning dino cup shows his greedless and good character.
Master Roshi has his flaws but he showed there that he is selfless and humble, ready to help whenever he can without asking anything in return. A fine master for Goku and Krillin
Dragon ball super did master roshi so good. If you havent watched it take the time to do so. His fight in the tournament of power was spectacular. Im a grown ass man and cried my eyes out
I love these moments like this in DB or the Tournament of Power. He has a great character under all of the pervy jokes. Serious Roshi is the GOAT. That Final Kamehameha and Goku and Krillin thinking he died may be my favorite Roshi moment in the series. Goku and Krillin teared up, Goku sounded like a kid again in the Japanese version(its subtle, but Nozawa definitely pitched the voice up a little when she screamed), and Sean killed it in that scene too.
i understand the part where he opens it and the water just wastes, but when they bath- i mean he probably brought gallons of it and he can still go back for more
