incredible flood and mud on the roads of Lagos Nigeria megacity after a stormy rain of an hour and a half few days ago.
Welcome to another 4k ultra hd drive in Africa ! Today, I took the bike just after a stormy downpour, and went to ride in two different representative neighbourhoods of the city : Elegushi a popular working class area and Victoria Island the economic center of the African Megacity. This ride will allow you to discover the problems the megacity and its inhabitants are facing regarding infrastructures when tropical rains are falling down.

I do not like Buhari however These conditions have been there before Buhari and will remain after Buhari, you do not expect 100% of Nigeria or even 100% of Lagos to look 100% the way you'd want it to look. The poor will Always be with us, if it looked how you wanted it to look these people wouldn't be able to afford those amenities you imagined, I'll explain: the shiny fancy roads increase the price of rent and properties around, the 24/7 electricity increases the value and rent, the more fancy buildings spring up in the neighborhood the prices go up. If these people pay 80,000 naira a year for house rent these 3 additions alone can improve rent by 50 to 100% how many of them will remain in the neighborhood if rent rises to 160,000naira per year? The same you screaming now will scream even louder against gentrification and the "rich people" moving in to steal or convert poor peoples land. Remember when bar beach was taken over and improved? Remember when what's that popular slum was torn down and developed everyone screamed. Development happens slowly not over night except you have money in surplus. Tarring the entire Lagos state will require them using Atleast all of the states budget for an entire year and people will scream what of security, electricity, education etc

The disgrace are the people migrating to lagos in droves turning the state into hell, why cant they stay in their villages and be farmers?, they migrate to lagos build illegal shops in underdeveloped areas and turn it to hell. Look at the video you will notice 90% of the really bad areas are illegal shops

not everything is like this, this is a particular, or two particular areas just after a huge rain. there are a lot of positive facts to be seen in lagos too. you will for sure take the aerial train here when you will reach the city, and maybe the brt buses, or the train to abeokuta ... hope you will appreciate your comeback here

The motor vehicles shipped to Lagos must have been built tougher to perform better in such hazardous road conditions. Otherwise I can only imagine the high repair and maintenance bills caused by hidden pot holes and whatever else lies beneath the water. It looks like mold growing on the outside walls of the apartment buildings. If it is mold I hope that it is not also growing on the inside walls of the apartment buildings. The presence of mold inside the habitations of human beings is a huge concern in America. In some cases people have to temporarily relocate to hotels while the mold is being removed from their homes. This involves tearing out walls, ripping up floors, ceilings, stripping roofs and then rebuilding portions of the structure. Although we have a great water drainage system in America, flooding of streets still occurs. It appears that a water drainage system of any kind does not exist in Lagos. Mr. Liu, you are such an excellent driver I feel safe riding with you no matter what the circumstances.

Sad to see such conditions. I've never seen a road not paved in a big city. Roads are important. Standing water causes problems - with mosquitos, and bugs and toxins and run-off pollution and things. Diseases are likely to spread in unsanitary conditions too. For cars: Here in the US, they say never to drive through standing water. You never know how deep it is.

@@Biobele so it is because I have written Dubai as standard you are crying. that is mean you don"t read my point of view till the end sure. For your information, I use Dubai as an example because I want you to compare Nigeria and UAE from 1980 till today. UAE as begin from nothing at that period to be a country that many developed countries take as examples and where they go to spend their Millions and where you also are going to work. Comparatively, Nigeria became the country with a bad image (Yahoo country, Drug dealers, etc...) because of bad leadership, many things go wrong and which have pushed you to leave. Glory be to God We have some song stars, and Nollywood which give us some good name and make us proud. Keep this in your mind, my real standard is a real great Nigeria led by visionary leaders, who know that electricity, good roads, good schools, water, good transportation system, citizen welfare, good business environment...are not luxe, but a necessity for all country which wants to be great, as a French diplomat told me one day that if Nigeria is perfectly ruled, it will be great than France and Germany unified as Country. And you and many of our citizens will not need to work in foreign for nothing and live a disrespectful life as you told before, but you, many others, and I will be back in Nigeria bringing our respective knowledge to make our country be great.

But now even this is no more possible, you have to go 14 days in quarantine. So Africa is big but may be Nigeria...... your video was one landing point. The kind of poverty we have in Nigeria is that of leadership. We certainly have the resources to provide a better life for our people. But the followership is no better; illegal structures, illegal waste disposal, etc. What a mess!

Zenith is not to blame but the state government is. There is nothing Zenith can do about it because the state government doesn't care. This is one of the reasons Nigerians don't like to buy new cars. Our roads are not meant for them. When it rains like this the quality of the air will be okay a bit . That is why I prefer raining season in Lagos

Great video, it's shocking the state of the roads and the government still haven't sorted out the problem of flooding in Lagos. Remember growing up in the 70s and being in Secondary school certain areas were no go areas because of flooding.

Is there a tax structure in place that could be dedicated to road and infrastructure improvement? Certainly the government realizes the need to do something, about the unsafe conditions in the area of the city. This is quite pathetic.

It's really a godforsaken place, a true reflection of the current government. Even sadder that folks are walking around, living their lives oblivious to the state of their surroundings or just accepting it! Guys it is not normal to be living in this kind of environment.

Very entertaining to watch, thanks. Like in Venice. I wonder how pissed locals are about the road conditions. Or maybe they think the bumpy roads are an essential part of the travel experience.🙂 Question: When the map pops up, how can I place you on the map at that very moment. Or is it always at the beginning of the line. (Direction?) I think it would be more convenient for viewers if the texts were a little bit longer on the screen ... for readers who don't use English as their primary language (like me).

Thanks replying. Someone wrote an accident is always at hand, but I think that impression is an illusion. The viewer feels the front wheel of the bike locates at the bottom edge of the video ... but there is (I think) 2-3 meters more space.
