Yeh I would if I could afford it, even if the paint was scratched. It is amazing what detailers can do nowdays. Plus clear bras, and I even see protective coating you can buff onto paint now days. The whole point of buying a body on frame suv is for off roading. Just take good care of the paint.

I drive a 2015 GX with almost 70k miles. Still feels and looks brand new, nothing rattles, nothing ever went wrong, done nothing other than regular maintenance, changing brake pads and tires. That's why I chose this thing, love it, I will probably keep it for another 5 years until I trade it in for a new one if Lexus keeps making this beauty.

@@FreelikeaBird999 what is the standard? I think it’s quite objective, we have different standards. But I think for any car, once you get used to it, it feels fine. I drive it mainly in NYC’s traffic, never had any issues with brakes. How brakes feel is really not my priority when choosing a car, so as long as it stops the car quickly then I haven’t really paid attention to how it feels. What I can say is it’s plenty powerful for me.

It may be a mall crawler but is indeed a real ladder on frame 'truck' underneath with bulletproof reliability. Way more off-road chops than any car based crossover. I'm not a huge SUV fan but I do love the GX, LX, Land Cruiser and 4Runner/Tacoma's. If I ever buy an SUV it would probably one of those I listed.

Well, you have been soooo gentle with this vehicle, i almost fall asleep! These kinds of vehicle can handle so much more than you can think of Had similar experience couple years ago in the TLC200 and Haval H9, and i can say: the more speed you carrying through, more comfort are staying inside cabin Keep it up!

I was definitely more abusive to it in the on road review haha, but man it really didn't like the loose big rocks at speed. Much happier on the packed dirt and sandy stuff

Tedward well, yeah, depends on conditions of the pavement, but with more ‘speedy’ off road experience you’ll be much braver. And yes, this brand new mall crawler can handle 60-80mph on these kind of roads that you were on! And really important pressure of the tires and tires itself

@booblyash I've done the speed happily in other vehicles on these roads..this thing was STIFF. But you’re right if I went really fast it would float a bit more but there’s risk involved. Don’t want to crack up a loaner 😂

The biggest challenge for off-roaders is to find a suitable off-road course that can fully utilize the suv.

In an ideal world I would have at least 3 cars. A Daily driver hot hatch; say VW GTI or MINI JCW. An off-road SUV for shenanigans and road trips; say Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Pathfinder Pro 4X. And a fun weekend sports car; say a 996/997 Porsche 911, Boxster or Lotus Elise. Throw in a 3 car garage and a small workshop with a lift and I would be a very happy auto enthusiast!!

Prison camp road in Rutland. It’s a public road so there is some traffic on it but overall very quiet and well maintained

Unrelated, but out of curiosity, do you have any mechanic shops you'd recommend in the eastern MA area? Just had a guy quote me $1800 for two rear wheel bearings on my G35. I told him I'm picking the car up...

I wouldnt run it in comfort. It is way too soft and will not take sharp jolts too kindly. It needs to be in sport with stiffer dampening so the shock absorbers arent being abused and also your spine will thank you later lol

Come on the seating position in the wrangler is so shit in no way u can compare it to the GX. The GX460 in summary to the people wondering how it feels and drives : it’s like a Mercedes S class but u can beat it up on dirt roads . If you want a pure off-road car buy a lada
