There's something life enhancing about your videos; the way you find joy in the tiny discarded things of life. You should write a book "Zen and the art of mudlarking" or at least start a cult where we all dress in plaid shirts,wear wellies, smother our legs in mud and drive about the countryside at 100mph. All hail to the great cod marble in the sky and more power to your elbow.

Bulbs n buttons, bones and brass; Stoppleboppers made of glass! Hiding suspicious ‘neath the rocks, Ancient coins peep out their tops. There’s a beautiful ship on a ha-penny Wait. A ship on a coin fell in the sea? More buttons, bricks and bits-o-boot Bed parts hide amongst the loot, Random horse heads, big & small, Figurines against the wall. And was one of the guys who drank John Peel, The dude from the ‘drunken sailor’ reel? Thanks for taking us on this trip! To the Cumbrian town of the coin with a ship. History, mystery, always a ball! We sure do appreciate ya’ll!

Hi Gail and Alex, my wife Sue and my daughter, Clare, came across your RU-vid clips about 2 weeks ago and since then we have "binged" daily. Absolutely love the shows - your presentations are excellent. Sue interests are pottery work, beading, painting and anything to do with craft. Clare is into jewellery making and I have a love for geography, maps and history so I follow your travels via Google Earth. Sue was born in England and after watching the videos of the beautiful area in which you live, she is getting somewhat homesick! I love the choice of your music, particularly the country style music. Nature around your area is just superb - so green compared to here in Australia. Keep up the lovely work.

I only found your channel last week as you were in my suggested videos, and I've been binging your videos since! My Grandfather had a button factory in the 1920's in New York City. We moved fron NYC to a 27 acre farm in Jackson,N.J. in 1944 and when I was little we had a couple of large jars or containers full of buttons from the first decade of the twentieth century, many I'm sure were my Granddads. Some were mother of pearl , some wood and other materials, but they were all fascinating to a 6 or 7 year old. Nothing like the truly ancient ones hiding in Britain but interesting never the less:) What lovely afternoon light and finds you had and what memories you evoked in me:) Cheers, Rik Spector

The larger clear marble is actually from an old car battery. As kids we would go to out local scrapyard and ask for them. They would sometimes have a pile left over from breaking the batteries open for the lead plates. We would then use them as marbles but they were known as crystals. Lovely video again. Thank you.

The benefit of Lucozade is its high glucose content. Granulated sugar is mostly sucrose and fruit is fructose, milk is lactose. The body uses glucose and you have receptors in your mouth which put it directly into your bloodstream, other sugars need to be digested first, which is why Lucozade benefits someone who is ill. (Pineapple is high in glucose, try some after you have been strenuously exercising and you will swear it is the best fruit on earth).

Have you ever considered taking some of the old brick/tile parts and using them to print on fabric with ink or the batique process? That segment you found at the beginning would have made a great print. Maybe frame the fabric as a print to sell, or print yard goods. I wonder how many of the marbles you find in the water or on the bank were shot by kids with sling shots at ducks?
@NorthernMudlarks
@NorthernMudlarks 4 года назад
What a good idea! We've tried printing with embossed bottles and bottle stoppers, but tiles would be perfect! Xx
@f.k.burnham8491
@f.k.burnham8491 4 года назад
@@NorthernMudlarks I am visualizing possibly a frame with the bricks / tiles placed in it with the desired face (s) of all at the same height. Then ink or paint applied to the faces with a brayer, and then the cloth placed over the frame, with a "rolling pin" or large round dowel covered in rubber or thick felt being used to press the cloth evenly onto the bricks or tiles. A person could even use old window or picture frames to put the cloth on as a frame for hanging.

@@corfukefi I remember my friend having Lucozade about 1968. Her Mum used to buy it for her specially because she was a bit of a sickly child, skinny & sometimes wheezy. Was a lovely area with all the old buildings for your mudlarking and a lovely sunny day to. Was some nice finds with the buttons and stoppers. I like the marbles. I remember drinking lucozade when poorly. Its always interesting to hear about the history of your finds. Thank you

I love the locations of your videos...stunning and lush. When you bent down to pick up the coin, I thought I saw a head...I almost went crazy because you went for a coin instead...lol...I go intense when you find coins but that time I got excited because the head looked like a males head. Love your videos...please stay healthy and loving with each other...it is so nice to see parent and child partnering and doing teamwork. God bless you both and your jewelry making.

A bounty of buttons - my heart was flip flopping after the first 5 when they just kept coming. This outing would have been mudlarking perfection for me 🥰

You get to explore in beautiful old places. I live in the USA and it is beautiful as well but not the age of where you visit. Love hunting along.

Hello how are you today, I got home from night shift and am now snuggled in bed watching my favourite mudlarkers.....have a nice day. We have a 'famous in NZ' John Kirwan too. He was an All Black and he is a tv celebrity promoting mental health awareness.
