It looks like you're using some sort of holder (attached to the wheel) for holding the piece of pottery that you're trimming -- making it possible to reach the entire side of the piece. What is that? (Great tool, by the way, too!)
Susan Voskuil I believe it’s called a CHUCK, if you need a special holder for trimming your pieces. These chucks can meet those needs. You can customize them for those unusual shapes and sizes. What’s great about clay, if you don’t need them you can recycle them into other clay pieces.
Hey Scott, I have this tool and have used it a few times but i can’t stop it from chattering when I trim with it. I don’t mind the chattered look but I don’t want it all the time. Have you or any customers experienced this? Does the chattering go away with a bit of wear?
The first time I used this tool, just wanted to see what it would do on two bowls I'd thrown, those two bowls have a chattering pattern now. Having never done it before was unsure how to stop. I liked the pattern so left it but like you don't want to do it everything. Will follow their advice they gave you. Just to let you know your not the only one x
