Idk, I feel like Mufasa as a character was very underused in the original film…, he died pretty early, so I can somewhat understand why they would wanna make a movie centered around Mufasa. But I agree, they should have made it at least with 2D Animation, but I guess 2D Animation may not perform well at the box office. And just like you said, the Lion King remake grossed 1.66B+ and therefore became the 9th highest grossing film of all time…, so I can‘t really blame them for doing it in live-Action🤷🏻♂️ I personally love Mufasa, so I‘m obviously gonna watch it during the Christmas holidays, but I‘m not expecting it to be a masterpiece. I gotta be honest, the synopsis for this film feels like they've taken the entire continuity of the original animated film (and all of the lore from its connected stuff) and just chucked it out the window. Then again this is part of the live-action canon, so it technically won't count. I can at least take solace in knowing that.
I did watched the Live-Action Lion King and in my opinion, I think it's over-hated! Sure it's not like the original, but I think that this one, kept the most concept of the of the original movie, than other Live-Action remakes. Overall I think it's really underrated. And this is coming from a guy who watched the original movie thousand times before the Live-Action one!
