Muharram mourning is mourning and commemoration that is done on the occasion of the killing of Hussain bin Ali and a group of her companions that happened in Karbala in 61 AH.

Mourning for Hussain bin Ali and his companions begins on the first day of Muharram and reaches its peak at noon of Ashura. In the evening and in the evening of Ashura, this mourning continues under the name of the dinner ceremony of strangers. On the 12th day of Muharram, a ceremony called "Third of Imam Hossein" is performed. These types of ceremonies continue on the 16th of Muharram under the name of "7th of Imam Hossein" and on the 20th of Safar under the name of "Arbain". Of course, mourning for Hossein bin Ali is not limited to the month of Muharram and is done on other days of the year as well, according to the culture and customs of each region. The mourning ceremony of the third Shia imam is very important from the Shia point of view, and performing it is worship.
Muharram mourning is done in different ways in different places. In addition to religious dimensions, Muharram mourning has political and social dimensions. The mourning of Iranian Shiites in the month of Muharram has always been spontaneous
عزاداری محرم عزاداری و بزرگداشتی است که به مناسبت کشته شدن حسین بن علی و جمعی از یارانش در کربلا در سال 61 هجری قمری انجام می شود.
عزاداری حسین بن علی و یارانش از روز اول محرم آغاز می شود و در ظهر عاشورا به اوج خود می رسد. در غروب و شامگاه عاشورا این عزاداری با نام مراسم شام غریبان ادامه دارد. در روز دوازدهم محرم مراسمی به نام «سوم امام حسین» اجرا می شود. این نوع مراسم در شانزدهم محرم با نام «هفتم امام حسین» و در بیستم صفر با نام «اربعین» ادامه دارد. البته عزاداری حسین بن علی منحصر به ماه محرم نیست و در سایر روزهای سال نیز با توجه به فرهنگ و آداب و رسوم هر منطقه انجام می شود. مراسم عزاداری امام سوم شیعیان از دیدگاه شیعه بسیار مهم است و انجام آن عبادت است.
عزاداری محرم در روش های مختلف در مکان های مختلف عزاداری محرم علاوه بر ابعاد مذهبی، ابعاد سیاسی و اجتماعی نیز دارد. عزاداری شیعیان ایرانی در ماه محرم همیشه خودجوش بوده است

The former Shah of Iran also loved Imam Hossein (AS) and his family, especially his father Reza Shah used to organise and run such prossessions and events during the month of Muharram and he would lead the crowd of mourners himself with some mud smeared on his head and shoulders as a sign of humility and respect for the very noble family of Imam Hossein (AS). The Shah himself famously said, once during a horse riding he could have a fatal injury or worse when he accidentally lost control and fell over; he said " with all my heart and mind I felt an unknown body embraced me and protected me from a bad fall"... and he insisted to say that it was Hazrat Abbas ( Imam Hossein's(AS) half brother ) who saved him ! Well, that was his belief . You see, the problem with these sort of people like yourself is, that you are so totally frozen in your own dogmatic thinking and attitude and overwhelmed with so much blind hate, that you can not even allow yourself to learn and to educate and judge with open mind and also with the help of hundreds and thousands of evidences and witnesses from your own Iranian culture and great personalities who embraced and adored Islam and had showed so much love and respect to this truly noble and exceptional Prophet's family, which you just call some Arabs. Iranian greats such as Molana, Saadi, Hafez, Shahryar, just to name a few, they had no fear or hesitation what so ever to say what they had to say about Islam and their own belief . You just lie to yourself, ... Zendegi... Azadi ? .... do you really believe in AZADI ?!!!! People like you would ripp of and slaughter anyone who dares to practice Azadi, you can not allow people having their own freedom of belief, mind and religion. You accuse the Mullahs to do so but your own thinking and behaviour is much worse . When a few years ago Hollywood started this hate and humiliation campaign against Iranians especially with a movie called "300" ... it was only and only those brave Iranian Hezbollahi who attacked and criticised those fake and disgusting propaganda rubbish in that movie which was targeting ancient Iranians. Not one single of those so called patriotic Iranians who live in USA dared to say something and defend their own Iranian values and heritage, only true Iranian Moslems did ! 🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷
