I got the item for 100 gambles. I didn't do it all at once, though. But one time I did win the 2k jackpot. Blew 700g of it on that dumb rainbow rifle because holosmith spec had just come out, just before it became available again and the price of it dropped through the floor.

little tip for ecto gambling the odds are better on the minimum buys, you wont win as big but you'll win more, everything else has shit odds. just going by the drop rates on the wiki

@@briantran7934 nah the skyscale is trash compared to the griffon skyscale you need to land every 3 seconds and its slow as heck, you get it mostly for the looks of it and to say you did it, the griffon is the better choice and if you drop from a high enough place you can fly like a freaking jet and cross the entire map in under 30 seconds and gain altitude back at the end of it if needed

I did this once and went from 500 Gold to 2k, then my greedy ass lost it all in the next 10 minutes xD Left the game for a couple of months because of it, but now I am back and the merchant is very convenient for selling all kinds if stuff to :)

Oh my god dude I had to check if I wrote that comment because that exactly what happened to me.. started at like 1k gold, went up to 2k maybe and then down to 60 gold, left game for 3-4 months before returning but yea, at least I got the item too..

As a Legendary Sandstorm Player and Legendary Tarrktun Supporter, I feel you do not yet appreciate the madness. :) I will say I have a merchant whenever I need one (to sell only) and was able to build a Mystic Forge Conduit, so I do get some benefit.

I tried this about 10 times trying to get the 32 slot bag mats. I wound up losing around 375 Ectos (around $75 gold) but won about $125 gold, so I figured I'd quit while ahead. Didn't get any bag mats. I think it's probably cheaper to buy the mats on the TP. In reality, it may be better to just make due with 20 slot bags.

I rage quit pof at 2017 for 6 months after losing all my gold in gambling (about 700g) I was so pissed.... Say never to gambling. Unless you want the merchant and have the spare gold.

I must have got real lucky cuz I pretty much broke even going for the portable skritt vendor. That being said, having that always in a shared slot has resulted in me losing quite a bit of money and ecto from impulse gambling.

The first rule of gambling is that the House always wins in the long run (simple probability). Poker is different in that there is more skill involved, so good players can make money over time, but the House still wins because of the rake.

Not really. But for the last month or so it seems like the gambler has been nerfed. It used to have a more even distribution in rewards. Is like the they changed the drop rate for the rarities since the last boss train event when they added the boxes with infusions in them as rewards..

cost me 3k gold.. so you are pretty much on course to get it for the same price i did :) stil lworth it tbh i prefer it over the endless merchant since you can only place him once every 15minutes whilst tarrktun / desert gamble thing are well.. klcik them and a window pops up whenever and whereever u are (except during pvp matches but merchants dotn work there either so ..ye)

You did the wrong one :P The Sandstorm has far higher loss per hand than the destabilized ecto. The reason is because Sandstorm gives you a chance for Supreme Runes of Holding, which Destabilized doesn't. Glob of Destabilized Ecto has an average loss of about 14 ecto and 4g each. Sandstorm Flush Hand has an average loss of 127 ecto and 53g each. WIth the Destabilized Ecto, I got the merchant and was up 300g but down about a stack of ecto. Was lucky. :)

according to the wiki, the average cost of the merchants through one of the two ecto gambling methods is 244g...

Actually it turns out the sandstorm hands are the worst way to ecto gamble, average loss is -50g and -127 ecto, where as the tarktun gamble is -3g and -14 ecto... also, the tarktun clumps and dabs (instead of globs) actually average a profit.

Imagine me doing it 2x, first the skritt and then the sandstorm. TBH you kinda break even in the end. I do feel like the skritt gives you a better chance, But that's just a feeling. so I gambled 200k gold total and 250k ecto. I think I eventually lost about 500g total and won a little more ecto. Selling the ecto makes it about even. And I did it on multiple accounts...not all in one go of course. Not rich at all. I generally have around 200g or less.

I've never gambled in my life, not even a lottery ticket but I waste all my gold gambling in GW2 lmao. As soon as I have some ectos and gold I'm like "its time". Worst thing is, very often I make a massive profit and I could just stop but instead I decide to play until I have nothing left. That's how gambling works in real life too. Scary

The sad thing is that the reward is only useful for more gambling or selling stuff (it does not have any other items). The good thing is that it does NOT summon anything, so you always can use it (unlike the other merchants). But overal it is just a very expensive "reward" for an item that does allow you to sell junk... and 5 ap?

The skritt gambling has better chances because it doesn't have that prize item which almost guarantees garbage. You MIGHT get a rune of holding out of it but there's too much crap. It is the skritt gamble that you can complete with fewer gold.
