One of the oldest and best loved Shakuhachi works. “ The Mist” seems to make time stand still and promote a higher level of consciousness. In pieces written for the Shakuhachi there is often no melody, only a series of long breaths ornamented with tone and texture.
This life performance was recorded at Stonybrook University for the 2023 Cherry Blossom Festival (Sakura Matsuri) at Stony Brook, New York.
The landscape imagery is from Delaware Park in Buffalo, New York designed by Olmsted and Vaux.
