@@Lapusso650 it doesn't have to it's the story and symbol that comes with it, and the story behind it, and what we can learn from it. The phoenix existed in Europe and Asia and has many different stories and lessons from it.
@@hansiie. that's cool you want a dragon, not everyone is going to like it, I'm personally ok with it. I'm not so worried about the dragon no dragon debate, I'm more interested in the story and what lessons we can learn from it, and what people will take away from this movie, hopefully learning about family and sacrifice, something a lot of kids from Asian cultures and countries are instilled with from an early age.
Not only that but what’s with all this magic crap? I get it you want to kick up the fantasy but the whole point of Milan was that she was strong because of her will. There was no other force just her doing the right thing against the mongols
BruiserMachina ok but Shan Yu was based on Attila the Hun, so not the same name either. I’m sure the character will be similar no matter what name they give him.
Men commonly had long hair at that time, like... literally across the entire globe, it was common in many cultures including China during that time period,
Oh please stop with this, if you don't want to watch don't watch, nothing is new under the sun.. The thing, Scarface, Othello etc it is for the era and our era has passed..and this is more to the original.
It's not a remake it's not based on the anime. This movie is before the anime version back in 1999. I was told by a youtuber from China I didn't subscribe to her channel but she knows about the plot.
SergeTheBlerge I’d really like to see a completely reality based Mulan story, no witches with magic, and No ridiculous feats, of impossible fighting prowess.
As someone who never saw the original animated short and has zero nostalgia for it I gotta say just looking at this it seems kinda damn dope, but I get how the many many MANY people who have seen the original Mulan may feel jilted, especially after Disney did pretty much shot for shot copies with identical tone for some of their other remakes and only now they change it up, its weird
So funny how Mulan is a story of a woman fighting for what's right but the lead actress supports the police brutality against the Hong Kong protestors doing the exact same thing.
Disney: Re-makes Lion King almost shot for shot and adds nothing new to a story that could've used something fresh. Disney: Re-makes Mulan, changes almost everything from the animated movie that made it fun.....
Did they send me daughters? When I asked....for sons. Your the saddest comment I've ever read And honey heres the truth Darling ill make a fan....OUTTTAAA YOOOOOUUUUUU!!!!!
Pss kiddo, this is aim at the 1.6 billion mandarin speaking market. In their culture Dragon is a sacred animal hence no more of the slap stick comedy lizard.
Rashond Grant this is more accurate to the original story. Which mushu wasn’t part of. Disney “Disneyfied” the story by adding Mushu into the animated movie.
@@Caprineki that was a musical, they're trying to go for a chinese historical crouching tiger esque approach here. I think this treatment is not for the west but for the Chinese market who like these martial type of movies. Remember the Mulan we know is not the original Mulan either.
The lead actress openly supports police brutality in Hong Kong and the actions of the CCP. So naah, skipping this. (Am from HK and had teargas launched at me multiple times at peaceful events.)
Look if am being real, despite the backlash from the actress, this movie does not look that bad and may be interesting and enjoyable to watch. I like how there representing the story and can’t wait to see it
Dishonour!! Dishonour on you! Dishonour on your family! Dishonour on your cow!!! You do not change mushu into a Phoenix and really the falcon being a woman who can use magic.....
@@samharrinton4485, the reason is they were looking to stick closer to the time period and actual legend of Mulan. Not the flamboyant and silly American children's version (and that's coming from someone who loved the children's version quite a lot).
@@kei7540 The Jungle Book was thought to be fantastic, which I agree with. And both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass were iconic and very close to the original source material. But the best was Christopher Robin, which was both fantastically well made and acted and heartbreakingly beautiful.
Theory: the witch is either fighting for vaguely the same reasons as mulan OR she's secretly the puppet master behind the entire invasion making her the final big bad. If it's the second one, the story will probably go like this: mulan fights the witch in the first battle and causes mulan to doubt herself. Mulan is exposed to her comrades. Mulan finds a way to reenter the fight and defeats the general guy. It's revealed right after he dies that the true villain is the witch. Mulan defeats her. As the witch dies she reveals her true motivations are similar to Mulan's. Mulan is deeply affected by her adversary's final words and may or may not end up with the guy. Roll credits
because he sells. we already had an actress that is pretty much unknown to us westerners as the main lead , it would be weird to not put a somewhat familiar face for the others.
Avery the Cuban-American she have the righteous mind believing laws and orders supporting the best police force so what political view you’re talking about
Netflix: The Witcher The Witcher game fans: It looks weird and nothing like the game Netflix: It’s based on the original books The Witcher game fans: Ok cool Disney: Mulan remake Disney fans: There’s no dragon or singing Disney: It’s based on the Ballad of Hua Mulan poem and original Chinese folklore Disney fans: Waaaaaa!!! Give me my dragon Mushu: Can it be I'm not meant to play this part
Literally take my favourite character out of the movie I already have extremely little interest in. Great idea Disney. Now fire who ever thought of it please. Also the villain looks really not intimidating this time around. One of the first movie villains ever that I recon I could beat up IRL. 😂
Doesn't have a dragon that sounds like Eddie Murphy after snorting 80 lines of coke... so everyones going to ignore a new interpretation of Mulan now 🤔
Mushu, different villain, shape shifting witch, and Mulan not really trying to fit in with the army (which is a huge deal for Mulan’s situation) aside, nothing really draws me into this movie. If you want to see it then by all means I hope you enjoy it, just isn’t for me personally.
@@ChristopherBrekke Do you actually think that when anybody besides China sees the name 'Mulan' they think of the original story? To most of us the animated one IS the original story.
People in comments: 80% THAt cHAnged iT AloT!!! 10% I'm in it for the soundtrack 10% I'm excited for this movie Also one of my friends told me that Disney is going more of the folk tale of Mulan not the original movie.
@@phantommanass Yeah, u know, like sabotaging traffic infrastructure, assault foreign travellers, beat up reporters, knife the police , grab police firearms, set people on fire, threw Molotovs to police vehicles and storming universities and others things that 100% get yourself shot in the head by any American officers in any state of America.
@@kylelucien7632 if your all for imprisoning people in detention camps that's all you my friend all the people of Hong Kong are trying to say they don't want to be extradited to China
I still don't understand who these movies are for. If you want to have a movie night with your kids just put on the original animated movies. They're always better. Full stop. And as an adult would you really just want to see a lesser version of something you saw as a kid? Who is going to see these movies? How do they keep making money?

People in comment section are lovely human beings, they blame on Liu for supporting police and say “ she doesn’t respect freedom of speech”, while ignoring fact that supporting police is also freedom of speech.
First off: Who’s that shape shifting chick ? Second: I am guessing they’re not gonna include the “make a man song.” Third: This is probably going to be worst than the Mulan 2 movie.
@@rajasvlogs2061 I know there is a bird in this film associated with Mulan but really one if not the most memorable character in the cartoon version is Mushu so why leave him out
The original Mulan is not like the cartoon at all. I hear a lot of Chinese people did not like Disney taking one of their beloved stories and making it there own so I'm assuming this film is sort of an apology for that
I don't know why I am tearing up when watching this trailer the first time. Maybe it's because all the nostalgia stuff just hits me on the right spot xD
Don't forget jet li ok I'm definitely exciting two mine favorite strongest martial artists in Disney movies so WEIRRRRRD 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 JET Li and Donnie Yen
