I live in the Netherlands and though the Dutch bakfiets is so widely used here, I think the Germans nailed with this format. Because the Dutch bakfiets are quite big and only families with houses who have enough space can park such big bakfiets. But this one can easily be used by any family and it takes the footprint of a normal bicycle.
Thank you for the review, it’s been very informative. I can see from your newer videos you’ve switched to RM Load. What made you choose the RM over the Muli?
wow yes thank you for this review! You are right there is pretty much nothing out there in terms of a video review that is in English. This bike looks amazing and I feel like it will be my first cargo bike purchase whenever me and my partner live in an apartment with an elevator. How is it in terms of the weight? I know the weight specification on the website, but how have you found it in terms of picking it up? I would imagine it being easier with a handle built into the drop down cargo box. Also with it being a little bit longer than a regular bike I would imagine that maneuvering around stairs would be tricky. Currently we have just one flight or stairs to get down to our bike room in our apartment complex however the angle of moving it down those stairs is a little tight. Oh well I guess we'll wait until we have a place with an elevator or a garage
Thanks for posting the video! Have been thinking about getting one, but don’t know where to buy one being in the U.S. Do you mind sharing the purchase information with us?
No problem! Reach out to Lars at Velo Gold Hannover: www.velogold.de. If you are interested, I’ll do a video on how to import it by yourself, and the things I learned.
Thanks a lot for the overview! I've met pretty fit looking cyclists who recommended the battery powered version, do you feel comfortable riding 5-10 miles with the bike or is that a chore?
hey there, thanks for the video! I'm considering driving up to vancouver (from the bay area) to get the same bike and am wondering if there's any chance you'd let me test ride yours beforehand-I believe you're also located in the bay area? let me know!
How is the performance of the bike compared to a regular bike? Is it harder to pedal when unloaded? What about when loaded, is it a lot of work pedaling with two kids in it, especially uphills, or is it actually doable?
Not sure what metrics to use for performance here to answer your questions. I generally average 12-16mph. If I have give it gas I can get 18-19. it can fly down hills though. Up to 35mph when loaded. It is not harder to pedal unloaded. It ends up handling like a brompton almost when unloaded. If you go slow, it is not onerous to Schlepp two kids. But you will likely never fly on flats with two kids. Up hill can be tough with one or two kids. I take it on rides that weight weenies usually take, and it is a good workout. If you have a casual hill in your commute it is not too bad though.
