Spent prison time in US and Pakistan for large periods of time. Fought in the Afghan resistance to the Soviets, Afghan civil war and later when the US invaded. He has had plenty of tough time and he has always shown loyalty to the Taliban and Mullah Omer which is the reaso. Why he is considered the first choice by much of the Taliban.

The nexus between US backed politicians vs Taliban is very complex. Mullah baradar saved Hamid karzai multiple times from the same taliban when fighters got furious during initial US invasion. Same Hamid karzai has role in saving mullah baradar and also instrumental in his release. The same goes with hekmatiyar, He was favorite of US and enemy to taliban at one time and now it's different.

From now on, the UN Security Council should issue resolution to mandate all frontier neighbors namely: Pakistan, Iran, China, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan & Tajikistan the authority to form a UN Peace-keeping Air-Force Group; Russia to support the 3 '-istan's as they share a military treaty. The role of UNPKAF group is to maintain a NFZ (No Fly Zone) to deter the war-mongering NATO forces to conduct bombing sorties. That way, the Afghan people will enjoy peace once again!
