the following description is just me stating my thoughts in connection to this vid. Feel free to ignore it xD

Sometimes you aren't with the person you love but with the person you need. Someone who's in love with YOU. Someone nice to make you feel good about yourself for once. As long as you're not hurting anybody I guess this can be a good thing(?). But you know there will be a time when you have to be honest to yourself. The time when you think about the one you truly heart.
"Most of all I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I'm with you." (Dirty Dancing, 1987)
So there are those people in our lives that make us question everything. That make us wanna be a better person. People we wish we could say all the things that are going on in our lives, our heads...but we rarely pluck up the courage to do so. So we search for excuses and play for time, there never seems to be the right moment. We don't say anything... - to quote Clay (OTH, 9x10): "we don't take the time to say the things that are in our hearts when we have the chance."
I'm trying to capture this with this wonderful song. After listening to it for days and days, thinking about my and my best friends' lovelifes, I immediately thought of TCD where Carrie and Sebastian have this fight about not saying what's going on and how they're feeling (1x12). I think that was a very realistic portrait of how fights might escalate and in the end the result is the opposite of what you actually wanted...But I also wanted to include all the other heartbreaking scenes from some of my favourite fandoms (not ships! As you might notice not all of them belong to my OTPs) where people did in fact state what was going on, what they wanted to say → like Karen did at the Beach in Californication (6x09). That scene was PERFECTION.
We're afraid of being rejected and - on the contrary to television where most couples end with a happy end after all* - it poses an actual threat. On TV all the "rejected ones", the ones who give their emotional "speech" will eventually get the girl/boy. In RL the other person/you might actually not feel the same way AT ALL. Being the one who rejects someone is somewhat less frightening... It's kind of easier to push someone away than letting them in. In some cases it might be cowardly but - let's not forget - sometimes it's also the right thing to do when you really don't love (or even like) the other person that much. But even when it's right it feels terrible (at least in the beginning)...
*Like Brooke did with Julian. She wasn't sure about how she felt. And I think she'll never love him the way she loved Lucas although they tried to establish them as soulmates or something. Lucas was her first love and Julian the second best thing for HER (I love Julian ofc waaay more than Lucas!). In real life their story wouldn't be a happy end. It would be how she never got the one she wanted.
Same with Ted and Robin but kinda worse wrtiting on HIMYM. That final episod..like..SERIOUSLY?! (Ted & Robin ending up together wasn't even the worst part cough Barney *cough*) Ted, the "main"character got what he wanted. Her. Doesn't even matter if she never truly loved him (that was established countless episodes before!)...

For this project I actually had A LOT of inspiration going in but I lost it along the editing-way...
I always see things that bother me because I'm such a perfectionist but there comes a time when you're tired of rendering the same video again and again. Hope you can enjoy it anyway! :)
