Could you provide specs on the footage you were using for this? 8bit/10bit? What camera used? Codec? The performance is blowing my mind and those are lingering questions i have.
Great video thank you. One question, if you might know the answer: Let's say, Mac Mini M1 and Laptop MBP M1, connect a Samsung T7 to mac mini, and edit a project on MBP of of the SSD connected to the mac mini over the network local (Gigabit network) , will it perform similar to a NAS?
A NAS is more designed for this type of work that what you're stating. I've never compared them side by side, but I imagine you'd get better results with a NAS
Pretty interesting, I have a Synology NAS for a backup, hadn't tried editing off it since the first error message saying I couldn't. Recently had to get a new one due to motherboard failure, it allows me to create a library right out the box. I was testing read/write speeds today and it was way slower than thunderbolt SSD that I normally work off, so didn't even try... Maybe I should...
@@scottmckenna It'd be interesting to see a video on what read/write speeds you are experiencing to the NAS while connected wirelessly. All videos I've seen say you should get a 10GBe adapter for the NAS and connect wired, that obviously doesn't seem the case in your workflow.
@@scottmckenna thanks for that, we have 3 editors all using it but we are part of an office with 100 people on the same network. We on,y getting about 50-100mb download.
Random question unrelated to this video, but do you still like the Pico Mic wireless lav system? Still seems smaller than anything else on the market, so I was just wondering?
Good to hear from you brother. Yes I still use it occasionally actually. I am shocked that no other company has made something like it. I still use it because like you said, it’s the smallest mic available. I hate how ugly and big the other units look like on the market. Crazy that rode hasn’t matched it.
@@scottmckenna seriously. The PicoMic has been around for years, and I’m shocked too that none of the other competing brands have come close to it in size.
