I saw the beginning episodes of Reign awhile back and wasn't very impressed. The amount of uh...creative liberties they took on the costuming legit couldn't get me into the atmosphere the show was trying to create, and I wasn't entertained with the teen drama (I wanted the historical political intrigue without the CW style drama lol). When I saw that clip though I was surprised in a good way. I see the later seasons improved drastically even if the costumes didn't.

@solarispeach there is nothing “brilliant” about that performance. It’s why the show was cancelled and folks stopped watching. If you wanna see “brilliance” while portraying a queen, look no further than Angels Basset in Wakanda Forever, Emma D’Arcey and Olivia Cook in HOTD, Lena Headley in GOT or Emilia Clarke in GOT. Adeline was annoying and at times comical bc the acting was so over the top. The woman who played Mary in the movie was so much better. She looked better all around, and her character was more in tune with how historians described Mary. Adeline acted like she was in a soap opera. Some time in Shakespearean dramas would help her a lot bc she shoulda never had that part. It’s what made that show unwatchable.

I remember in college we were studying Ancient Greek culture, and there was a segment regarding the book about the culture “The Reign of the Phallus”. During that, the debates amongst students reliably ended up with the males arguing against the females. One argument the males made was “well of course the men took over, because look how almost all the women in Greek literature are either weak or genuinely manipulative at every turn” whereas I countered with “if you deny women every legitimate means of empowerment, those are really the only two choices they have.”🎤⤵️

I think Medusa was a great example of this. A beautiful young woman, raped by a god who could not control his urges, then transformed into a "monster" with a power to actually defend herself which was denied in the first place. Then, she is hunted like a trophy animal when she was just minding her own business. A female with some "power" had to be destroyed. I also find it interesting that the gods were depicted as merely great childish men. If they were truly all-powerful, wouldn't they be able to control their $exual urges? No, Zeus was the biggest offender of all, and what kind of example was set by "the gods?" Clearly a terrible one. It showed, I guess, that brute strength and nature is more powerful, even than the gods themselves, and even provided an excuse to let natural urges overpower moral uprightness. That's just my take.

Female rage is the best concept ever to exist.
@burnstick1380
@burnstick1380 Год назад
what? And how does a female rage differ from a male rage?
@mrslundy1535
@mrslundy1535 Год назад
@@burnstick1380 well, female rage is a term that is used for the situation where the female get angry and show their temper which is caused by the oppressive male behaviour. It does not have to be a consequence of male behaviour but female rage is a reaction to society's unrealistic expectations on women. For example, you may be the daughter of your family and you may be expected to act proper, be silent, bow and obey everything that is told to you, you may be treated harshly when you try to make your own decisions or be shamed and alienised by your family members and the other people in the society. Female rage is when you finally get overwhelmed and decide to speak out against all the manipulation and gaslighting you were exposed to for years, and regain your independence by standing your ground and fighting.
@mrslundy1535
@mrslundy1535 Год назад
It differs from male rage cuz basically men are not labelled as crazy or overreacting when they lose themselves. Also, they are not necessarily expected to be quiet like every traditional adult loves a boy who speaks out and leads instead of a boy who chooses to keep quiet because they may be just introvert lol. But females are, almost all the time, expected to adaptate to the situation and handle everything quietly even though they are bothered by those things.
@Divya-ht5in
@Divya-ht5in 3 месяца назад
@@burnstick1380 Because women's rage has been suppressed for centuries and centuries and centuries and more. It's finally releasing itself in the form of karma !! While men have always used rage as power, control and their rage has always been glorified without reason. And women have always been glorified to be the "damsel in distress. Times are changing women are learning to save themselves instead of having to wait for the mercy of men. Women have been silent for a long time. Their screams, their cries, their voices silenced for so many centuries. We finally Live in a century where a woman's rage is loud enough for men to hear, see and feel. A rage that was given birth through years of oppression, torture, and sufference from men. Women are often called nurturers and creators. Oh but the rage of women has truly been created & nurtured by men.

No one can truly be proud of you, more than you. You know what sacrifices you made to get to where you are today. No one will understand you better than you can. So be proud of yourself every day, even if mistakes are more common than success. Embrace the good and bad about yourself for they add up, to make you the perfect version of you. May your life be blessed, and you live it with no regrets.

Exactly. All the goddesses that were mentioned in all ancient Hindu scriptures, had their own roles in the society, some were the protectors and some were nurturers. The issue is that the people in power and politicians pushes the bullshit idealogies and people blindly trust them thinking it is their religion, when it is NOT. The people who act like they are all religious and yet do disgusting acts of crime like beating their children/wives, demeaning their daughters, not giving respect to their partners, the god does not need you to hurt someone else to please them. And such people should really fear the wrath of the nature and afterlife.

Some of these films are indeed great example of female leaders done well. Nevertheless, how terrible must it be in the modern Hollywood or western countries that they promote such sexism in their entertainment? Personally I think there is so little difference in sex. However, there are many good and bad people regardless of sex. And the difference between those good and bad is just a matter of knowledge, education and experience of the individual.

The truth is any sex, race, ethnicity, age or other divisor can rule. You just have to convince enough people to enforce your will, with ideology or money or something else they care about. Although, this doesn't make men and women equal in all things. That is the lie of modern feminism. Historical female rulers had armies primarily or exclusively made up of men. However, these differences are mainly physical. The quality of the mind determines the quality of a ruler. Most men don't care what genitals their leader has, so long as they are competent. Weak men and women care.
