MultiMC Tutorial - Instances and Installing Forge and Fabric as well as Mods and More - #04 

So I deleted my original comment because I figured out my issue (I should have just replied with this but it’s too late now lol) ANYWAY if anyone is having trouble getting Fabric to run even though you install it with MultiMC you still have to additionally install the .jar file (The API?) or whatever it’s called. I downloaded the mod off of Curseforge, installed it like a regular mod, and then everything worked fine after that. I’ve only been playing Minecraft for a week so I’m super new to everything and didn’t realize that was a step I needed. Again, Thank you so much for this series. It’s been so incredibly helpful as I try to traverse the complicated world of modding. You’re so right about MultiMC being amazing. I love that it’s a separate launcher that doesn’t affect the base game. I tried to install Fabric without it originally and it completely screwed up my launcher and I had to reinstall the game. This way all the hard work is taken care of for me and won’t mess up my game.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I've always had so much trouble with installing mods, every time I download a new mod or shader I feel like I have to do a bunch of rocket science just to extract the file's data or something... computers are confusing lol. I only wish the normal Minecraft launcher can take inspiration from MultiMC's launcher since it's so much easier to install mods & stuff

What is LWJGL 3, where did it come from, and is it needed? It does not load on my setup.

I've run into the issue of not being able to add Data packs or addon packs, say for Lucraft? And Lucraft seems to crash too

Just a heads up for anyone having a similar issue. I could launch newer versions of minecraft with Forge from MultiMC, but not the old version 1.12.2 with Forge. This was odd since I could launch that version with Forge from the official minecraft launcher. It turns out it had to do with Java versions. Thing is I have more then 1 version of Java installed on my PC, Java 8 and Java 11 dev version; I could be wrong, it was something I went through when installing Cubic Chunks mod. Anyway, I had to select the pathway to Java for 1.12.2 in 'edit instance', 'settings', 'java installation'. From there I had to find the Javaw.exe, in C, prorgam files, java, jre-1.8, bin, and that worked.

Is there any way i can use things from C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft and not from the MultiMC folders?

Wait im confused so does that mean i have have for example mods folder for forge and a different folder for fabric?

Is there a way to directly download mods from curseforge within the launcher like in twitch? Or do you have to go to the website and individually download each mod? I'm considering switching to multimc, but I'm on the fence at the moment, and that functionality is partially why.

hey, so i followed the instructions and everything and downloaded optifine and optifabric but when i ran the game the option for ‘shaderpacks’ didn’t pop up…but in minecraft it says that i have optifine downloaded can anyone help?

Hey, I have a lil problem isn't that much of deal because i can just use the original mc launcher instead and just create another mod folder. SO My MultiMc don't detect my mc account when i try to log in. But it work when i do on the original mc launcher. I even try changing password but still don't work. Someone know why this happens and if ot happen to any. Did someone have the same problem as me?

Hello again. I have a problem. I recently made an instance where i play minecraft forge 1.16.5 and now i want to make a new instance with 1.17.1 but i cant get to download forge on that instance. The button to download forge on the instance looks like a button that is unavailable to download do you have the knowledge to help me? (again lol) Anyways amazing tutorials!

So how do I figure out which version of Fabric to use for say, 1.16 Minecraft? Multimc doesn't say anything about it. Do I install the latest 0.10.8 or an older build? I'm so angry that I've spent three hours searching around and not one person has posted this information.

Hi, I have a problem. I use forge 1.14.4 and OptiFine doesn't work. It did work when I used the original Minecraft Launcher so I don't know what causes the bug or the error. I hope you know how to fix this.
