Sir any plant used to graft scoin is called rootstock.Rootstock can be a seedling,a plant layered from seedling,a cloned plant or a plant layered from a cloned plant.Now you would like to understand a clone.In cloning we take part of apple say a small piece of stem,root, shoot even leaf,and produce many plants by culturing.The plants produced as such have property of keeping the scion of miniature size and less need of pruning to develop spurs whome u call bimas.
