I am 43 and after having bought many foundation like It Cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, Loreal True Match, Nars, nothing worked. You and your Mom are absolutely the best. I lost my mom a cple yrs ago and I’ll never have a better girl friend. The best listener without judgement. I could and did tell her everything. She and I both loved makeup and when I was newly married and completely broke and even when I could better afford it we would walk through Macys makeup section and buy whatever was packaged the prettiest. And we would buy everything they sold. We were such suckers for anything pretty and pink on the outside. I could go on and on., If I didn’t think I would see her again I would despair. You and your Mom really bring me joy watching you. Keep on laughing there’s nothing better. I hope my daughters feel the same about me. They’re a huge blessing. Thanks for all your great tips. Jan is back! We've missed you. I really need to thank you for mentioning caring for your neck so often, because it has made me realize that I used to completely neglect that part of my face. I have now started applying all of my face skincare to my neck as well, and I diligently cover it with sunscreen every morning. Thank you for educating me (and everyone else) about the importance of caring for our necks.
In the 70s/80s one of the tips from top models was just to wear finley milled loose powder and maybe a bit of concealer when having a casual day. I have done this for years despite everyone going on about how cakey it can look. Obviously you shouldn't overdo it. Also, starting to use an eye cream in my 40s was a game changer for me though there were very few I could use. I'm more or less the same age as your mum and like her did not look after my neck so when I can afford it will go for the Led face mask etc. Thank you both of you for being so generous with your knowledge, I have learned a great deal.

I sometimes use my face one and wrap it round my neck or place my hands under it to do them separately. It obviously takes longer that way but works for me!

Hi Gemma wow you can certainly see the difference in your Mum’s skin …more refined, plump and firmer. I’m 66 and use the same CeraVe moisturiser as your Mum but have also used the lighter formula the one for the PM in the morning and evening during the summer months and found it great!
"Gormless" hahaaaa you are both definitely from the North lol. I think my mum called me that for my entire childhood. Don't ever hear it in the South x Interesting point about the heavier moisturiser on combo/oily skin. I'm the same. But since I've been using my Dermatica tret, I too use thicker moisturiser all the time. I just wonder if tret calms down the oils & so thicker moisturiser is a go-to once you start using it. I'm using the Cerave all the time now too x
