They should keep few such taxis and old BEST buses in museum don't scrap all of them like trams we mumbaikar have lot of golden memories with such buses and taxies
The taxi drivers can upgrade the taxis to pass latest emission standards. However, obviously it will cost them money, and will have to increase tariffs until they recover that money. But will the nostalgic customer pay for the increased tariff to sit in a kaali-peeli? I doubt that.
@@Orion-x7x You are right authorities should not just ban all old vehicle's with such policies we will not have any old vehicle to show to our next generation in with we used to travel if that vehicle can pass pollution and road safety standard let them run if not then also allow last 10 of any number of vahical as per they think suitable as a heritage or something like this
This really brought tears to my eyes. I travel to work every single day by these kaali peeli cabs and I've had some of the best genuine conversation with these cab drivers. It's such a pity that they want to get rid of them.
They are as iconic as the ambassadors in Calcutta. They should be revamped with new engines and come back on the road. They tell a tale of Mumbai that not many of today's generations knows. They are sturdier than your stupid aluminium cars of this gen. This might be my pov as a vintage car enthusiast but there is no good reason why these cars can't work anymore. The spacious and comfortable sofas and the iconic exhaust sound of the Fiat will be missed. 💔
Actually there are tons of reasons. Emotion should never get the best of one's logic. As a calcuttan I can't wait for the ambassadors to be taken off the streets.
An updated VolksWagen four door beetle should be brought back as a landmark car in recreating the charm and cute on roads. It could also serve as a high-end taxi.
Government is not reducing taxis but their owners do. People are choosing cabs then taxi because of mobile functionality and little bit more comfort, the taxi driver are quiting their jobs.
I still remember in 2011 I went to Mumbai for the first time with my parents and I traveled entire city of Mumbai in this Kaali peeli taxi PADMINI I WAS 11 YEAR OLD VERY GOOD KA AND NO ONE CAN MATCH IT
My grandpa expired in Feb 2020.. He was the supervisor in 1984 in fiat padmini..! Just remembered him n felt proud..he used to share all his memories of his lifetime..n this is one of them🥰
I had a ride in the kaali peeli taxi when I was in Mumbai. I feel nostalgic about it now. They should keep a few of them somewhere, maybe in a museum so that people can look at them in the future. These are iconic of Mumbai
The nail in the coffin was the reluctance of kaali peeli drivers to go anywhere , with the advent of better options where the commuter was shown a passable decency , people didn't think twice about swapping to radio cabs . Even now the kaali peeli using better models of cars are at a decline due to this . There have been so many instances where I've waited for some kaali peeli to say yes or even stop to listen about where i wanna go . Ola/Uber waiting time is always lesser , even 20 mins is justified sometimes .
I think it's OK to romanticize something. It's a human thing to do. But people don't want to pay the price for that. For eg. if these nostalgic customers agree to pay for a fund which will modernize the taxi to meet current emission standards, then it's fine. The failure to take right actions, but only crying about it, is making it look cringe I guess.
I never have rode them, Because I am not from Mumbai, I am not even from India. I am from Pakistan amd Still missing these Cabs already. Please don't scrap them all out. This is Heritage of Mumbai(India).
Hope they get good job and all the best for the drivers for the public service they have provided for more than 50 years..I never been to bombay and used this car but I feel bad for the end of another era.
This taxis are vanishing because cab takes cheaper fare than taxi, the taxi driver takes higher fair than taxi. The taxi driver have his own need but if all taxi are converted to CNG fuel system, taxis get booking other functionality on mobile devices like private cabs and taxi driver could take the fare as near to cabs then there will be the growth of taxi.
Still 30 years old Fiat taxies are runnings in mumbai, this is play with commuters Life and health due to rusty and unsafe cars and old polluting engins
We cannot watch the video properly of you write texts at the corner of every video.. we can't see the emotions in the video or any pictures if we are busy reading the texts!
@@Pushed2InsanityYT because it's the small things that make big differences.. If you don't want changes in your life you can be the same for as long as you want.. if you make small small good changes you can be so much better! So please don't underestimate any small complaint or feedback.
But there has to be some way? Corner, up, down, left, right....? Can't just play a video with random pictures and music cuz people wouldn't understand. Also, voice over would be worse..... So that's all they have I guess 🙂
I believe we will have our kaali peeli taxis back on roads but only when we all behave well with each other. Those taxis will be back on the roads again. I have travelled in those taxis and they belong to this city always.
If somewhere someone who can revive these iconic cars kali peeli , just like London Black cabs, and recently they turned next generation model with electric, thet would be great and future proof.
They should revive the engine and design of these Taxis like how they did with Double decker buses in London, so that they have less carbon emmision. Same with yellow taxis in Calcutta. It's easy to shutdown something, but with little effort we caan retain it. PS I've never been to Mumbai so naturally never could experience these Taxis in person. But they're still in my memory...
Premier auto must launch it again with new features with same model. London taxis are iconic symbol of London. We want padmini again. Govt. Must keep some of them in mumbai central n cst as a golden memories
ParaDz 1 Of course they can’t stay. They have already mostly disappeared off the roads. I just hope some are kept in a museum along with some of the old BEST buses. Just to keep the memory of them alive. They were iconic and still are one of the first things tourists think about when they think about Bombay.
@@Raky2427 absolutely, but some people are reacting as if they are still the lifeline of Mumbai and they should not be halted. Yeah, they should be in a museum but people should understand the changing times. Not everything stays forever. People who rode them must have been so lucky and have close feelings for it and now those people can't accept this fact. I like how mumbaikers were closely connected to these kaali peelis. This shows their proud and likeliness of their city's local but nostalgic things.
Yes primium Padmini texi ride in Mumbai very very good expiroance 2001 also texi driver driving very good in Mumbai Citi but time hota he Jo ab pura hua Padmini fiat car ka
Kali peeli itself isnt going anywhere .....Santro and Wagon R are still there .....its the Fiat Kaali Peeli which will be gone .....Kaali Peeli service itself is not ending . Brut, make sure you deliver the right information .....no point spreading Mis information
Mumbai authorities chose this Italian taxi coz of corruption. The ambassador would had survived for few more decades they destroyed indigenous company.
Thank god! In Bangalore they should scrap auto rickshaws for something safer. So many people have lost their lives because of shit boxes like this, auto rickshaw and Maruti 800. High time they embrace modern technology over boxes which belong in the museum and scrapyards. And not to mention the horrible customer service of these people, they’re not the only ones who work hard, even the commuters work their ass off, they act like they run FedEx.
And are they going to be replaced by something else? It’s sad when they government takes such steps and doesn’t preserve atleast some of them as icons of a bygone era. The past after all needs to ride with the present too. They are inseparable!!
