This knife was one I got when I was a young scout. I made the awesome sheath in 7th grade shop class and played a lot of mumblety-peg with it. It's been sitting in my dad's tool box for about 30 years untouched and today it got a new, tacticool restoration. I hope you enjoy it.

Great memories! I had 4 or 5 of these. My Uncle Paul (who was also our church pastor) gave me one when I was about 7 years old. Being that he was our pastor, my dad naturally couldn't say anything, LOL! I played in the woods, along the creeks, and hiked a lot farther than I ever should have alone, but alas, I had my trusty Rambo knife! *NOBODY WAS FOOL ENOUGH TO STAND UP AGAINST ITS MIGHT!* It also started a knife addiction, that I still have, gladly.

haha love it. It seems boys all over the world played this same game. Although when we played it 25 years ago in Belgium, the goal was to land the knife as close as possible to the other ones feet. If you flinched you lost. Great times. Thanks for letting me remember.

I remember mine with fondness and nostalgia. Looking back, I realize why they sold for 5 to 10 dollars new back then, they're junk. However, it was better than nothing, and we found ways to improve them. I sent mine into work with my uncle, where he removed the compass cap, and installed a solid steel hammer poll plate. And my neighbor, who I grew up with, learned by taking a chainsaw file to the saw teeth, it could be made to be functional. I never could could put a decent edge on it, but it looked cool on a military surplus load bearing pistol belt with suspenders .Mostly,I used mine for peace of mind, fearful of dogs running loose when I roamed the old back roads walking.

I bought that exact same model in 1985, from a bargain shop for £2.50. I was 11 years old and absolutely nobody batted an eye as I walked outside and threaded it on to my belt before BMX'ing off to join my friends :D I still have it, and it's in pretty rough shape, but I may well revive it out of sentiment :-)

Nice! This was my first fixed blade knife as a kid. My grandpa gave it to me, and my mom was not happy with him for it, but I was :) . It was a very low quality knife, but I felt invincible with it, running around the woods with the ability to protect myself from any hidden Russian invaders. Sadly, one day I dropped it in some gravel and the blade snapped in two, like a brittle icicle. Love your restore. I recently bought another one off of eBay, just because a part of me still missed that beautiful piece of junk. One thing I did to "upgrade" it, was I replaced the key rings with a fat rubber o-ring, making it possibly more water resistant. I also put a small one inside with the compass to make it stop rattling. Then I put another fat o-ring on the compass threads, where you left a gap. The gap you left is fine, but an o-ring definitely makes it look a little more squared away and helps keep it screwed tight and secure.

"survival kit" cable saw, 3 #4 fish hooks, 3 split shot sinkers, 10 ft of fishing line, 6 matches (strike on box for some reason), and 2 key rings on the handle of the knife, Mine (which I still have I ordered it when I was 10) even came with the mini "sharpening" stone, and delux "leather" sheath, Mine is the black handled version. For $599 C.O.D. I ordered it when I saw the commercial on t.v. (watching The Morton Downey Jr Show) at 2AM. Good Video!

When I was a kid going go country school in South Dakota we used to play stretch a lot at recess. Knives were just knives and all us country boys had to have a jack knife to cut twine on bales, etc out on the farm/ranch. Nowadays, they'd put you in handcuffs. We also used to park our pickups with a couple rifles in the rack to hunt rabbits on the way home for the stew pot. Can you imagine now?

I took mine and heat treated the blade, to harden it. Then I did away with the handle that came with it and made one out of solid aluminum stock, with grooves to match original handle and a tapped hole to screw to blade. Then lastly, I replaced the stop, with a brass one, I made that was "U" shaped, to go over the little square part of the blade.

Okay, just dug mine up out of a storage box. Handle and guard on mine are all one piece, no bottle opener. And the "Saw" is pretty useless, teeth are not off set. But the tank is alot longer then the one on your knife. No compass though. :) Also mine is 440 Stainless, but made in Japan. So maybe its not such a bad knife after all. Just ran mine over my Ken Onion Work Sharp. Takes a good edge too.
