When their mother got diagnosed with dementia, host and actress Munah Bagharib and her brother Ziyad felt like they had to overhaul their entire lives - little did they know that this would only make things worse. Four years on, they’ve adapted and are all about taking things as they come and making sure their mum is happy.
The pair open up about how they got to where they are now, and the bouts of caregiver’s guilt they still struggle with.
Dementia is an invisible condition. You never know when it will happen until it does. Together, we can do our part to support them and create a dementia-friendly Singapore.

Any caregivers wld have that guilt feeling at some point in their caregiving journey. Its lonely being a caregiver. Its good that Munah & bro r sharing that responsibilities.

The brother is very sensible and realistic in the summation of his experience. He's not saying that there is equal value in learning from everyone because let's face it, there are many bad advice out there and caregivers are stressed enough as it is to consider the merit of all advice.

her story is mild scenario. Bcs dementia, there is different stages and level of toughness. Bcs some dementia patient are mild just forget stuff yet calm. Where some patient tend to turn more violent either throw stuff or constantly think someone is attacking them. So yeah. Its tough, and i hope any caregiver out there you may loose your cool but pls don't. Try to adapt to the new life you have now with a dimentia person, because the faster you accept and adapt, the better. T_T
