Munich may be most known for its legendary beer and local breweries but for us, it's really the fantastic Bavarian food that is the highlight of this beautiful city!
In this video, we highlight all 11 places we ate at in Munich. From banging sausages, hunky meats, and golden pretzels, Munich has got so many great spots to explore and eat at.
This of course is not an exhaustive list especially sicne we visited during the winter but we hope you still find our experiences useful when you plan your own Munich food adventure!

Schneider is indeed a fabulous place for breakfast. The weisswurst and bretzel are perfect. It is the local hangout in the evening, too. A real local joint.

Cool Vid :) Westend Best Döner is nice 🙂 but there are many Döner places which is at least the same level or even better. But not a bad selection at all. I would skip Hofbräuhaus, because it is a very tourist-like place

I was amazed that you guys found Bergwolf. It is especially packed in the middle of the night and their Currywurst saved my life on several occassions at around midnight ❤

Heard of a Döner place called Django's is that any good? (Was also considering this place but it was less convenient for us to visit). Haha loved the energy at the Hofbräuhaus despite it being full of tourists but yeah definitely far from a local experience. Thanks for watching!!

@@locavore_eats Hey you guys did really great Research 😉 Hofbräuhaus is not bad in terms of food and stuff but it is more a party place than a restarant. It is a common saying in Munich that locals only visit Hofbräuhaus with their guests from somewhere else 😄 (Which is true by the way) Djangos is also quite good I would say it is on par with Best Westend. Next Time you visit Munich try "Türkitsch" its my favorite.

@@locavore_eats Always used to eat at Djangos on lunch break from school back when the student döner was only 3,90. Haven't been there in quite some time since prices went up that much but if it hasn't changed that much, Djangos is still easily a top 3 döner in munich. Other popular spots would've been verdi supermarket near the city centre or sendling spezial.

So actually currywurst is not big in Munich. Its more present in central Germany. There are only a handful shops for currywurst in Munich and apart from that you only get cheap stuff at like kiosks. Sure Bergwolf is the most commonly known one and they are famous for it but Munich is not known for currywurst nor is it any staple of Munich. Bavarians take sausage serious and Currywurst is just like MCDonalds and doesnt even come close to white sausage here. And kaiserschmarrn is also not a Munich staple. Its an Austrian staple. But since we are pretty close to the Austrians, some might even say "more than to the rest of Germany" its famous here too. Also the schneider brewery isnt a Munich brewery, its in like Regensburg or something. Lots of tourists go to this restaurant but the beer is not from Munich. The Augustiner is tho, i think this is the most famous for normal beer. The franziskaner brewery is also from Munich and it got the most famous wheat beer and for dark beer the most famous would be the one from the Andechs brewery 30km southwest from Munich.

That’s if you want to stick with German cuisine. Munich has plenty of Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Indian and, especially, Italian restaurants.

Bar Centrale is probably the best vibe for a little slice of Italy, however the best food for a tourist in the area has to be the local German food. That's why you need to go 😉
