I think the reason why the SAS was so prepared. For the Iranian Embassy siege 8 years later. Was because they extensively studied this.

Watershed moment. U.S. and Israel were not on the greatest terms in 1972. By killing Olympic athletes, Israel's adversaries had helped to begin to change American public sentiment. Later, in 1973, Golda Meier brilliantly handled the Yom Kippur War, using the same affect. Golda Meier, a Wisconsinite, knew Americans well, and knew that if Israel was perceived as the aggressor, American sentiment would take a turn for the worst. She was right. This helped to build an American-Israeli alliance that is unquestionable in U.S. politics today.

A lot of people only use this for the Palestine Israel Debate from what I’ve seen. But no matter if you support Palestine or Israel this is just plain sad it doesn’t matter what race or nationality the people who did this come from nobody should have to loose their lives over nothing.
