My mother grew up in Norwood, and she was my own free tour guide. I fell in love with this neighborhood because of the attractions. Nice apartment architectures, Mosholu Parkway, the Williams Bridge Oval, The Bainbridge Library and Van Cortlandt Park is not that far, I honestly would love to raise a family there because of the amount of diversity there is. I feel like I'm in Queens, Overall it feels like a decent neighborhood to visit or live.
Actually - I've now lived in this nabe for over 20 years. Moved in the last few from 208th street (across from the Varian House) to the Webster side. Sure, Norwood isn't clean, and there's some homeless and a few abandoned "zombie houses" on our block - but there are actually *less* car break-ins than in past years. And the recent influx of Middle Eastern folks has resulted in some nice new stores (for instance, a great deli at the end of 204th.) Given the housing going up on Webster, we're due for either growth soon, or overpopulation. Perhaps a bit of both. :/
