This work is spellbinding. It avoids some of the elaborate string work normally associated with traditional oud music in favour of a more restrained and nuanced technique which has me actually holding my breath at times. This virtuoso is at one with his instrument.
Echoes I am new to this oud music. It is not a part of my culture. I have been trying to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of this art form over the past couple of years. There is something mystical and primal about it that draws me.
@@davidbrown1566 Indeed, the arabic maqams and music specifically the form of taqsim really shines when combined with the oud ancient sound. This master though, he's so unique in his style. So relaxed and makes you wander with each note and the precise stops between his lines. I don't know what it is that makes him so but the feelings and mysticity in his music is so catching. It's like introspection or existential music. He feels so musically wise.
