Watching TAMU work her magic never gets old. Her talent is incredible, her work ethic is on point and her smiling attitude is infectious. You can't help but be in a good mood watching her no matter what she plays. Great reaction. 🤘🥁🔥
Lupin the 3rd is one of the most viewed Japanese anime series. The composer is well known jazz influenced and he has his own band. Hope you can check the anime opening of this song.😊
This performance was way back in 2016 and as stated in the original video title, is a cover. You could find her performance of this same song post 2017 which is her own re-arrangement released in her EP INNOCENT (Sept. 2017). She plays with more intense fills and I think a little bit faster than the original (or a cover here). Also if you think her drumming for this song is awesome, in her 2018 solo concert, she invited 2 drummers and they played alternatively together but for this particular track, she handed over her re-arrangement notations to both her guest drummers while she took the lead role by playing saxophone. Yes saxophone is one the instrument she plays among many others.
You don't know Lupin III? It italy the anime was massively popular in the '80s and '90s!! I really enjoyed it when I was a kid :D Love this Tamu videos! Hadn't seen this one yet!
This was great. I really should check out more of her older videos. I knew she was a jazz drummer and while I am not the biggest jazz fan, I do enjoy some of it, especially with great drummers or bassists. A couple of other mentions for when you are in a Jazz mood. - An other great Japanese drummer is Senri Kawaguchi, you can check out Wupatki / SENRI KAWAGUCHI TRIANGLE LIVE / JAZZ JAPAN AWARD 2017 from Senri's channel. She has a couple of great other projects that are certainly worth watching next to her solo stuff. - Kiyo * Sen (with keyboardist Kiyomi Otaka), KIYO*SEN「Enamel Doll」 - 坐音 ZAON (Jazz fusion with traditional Japanese instruments), First Desire | 坐音 ~ZAON~ @COTTON CLUB Apr. 20 2022 - The Jazz Avengers (Senri with 7 other female Jazz musicians, a bassist, guitarist, keyboardist and 4 saxophone plays with different types of saxophones), The Jazz Avengers - Glacial Winds - Not Japanese, but if you haven't watched Snarky Puppy, you should do yourself a favour. Snarky Puppy - Lingus (We Like It Here), great drummer (Larnel Lewis), but all musicians are great. Fantastic solo's. I will link under this and hopefully youtube doesn't eat the whole thread
Tamu is amazing. I love jazz as much for the drummers as anything. Want to know the biggest influence on rock and metal drumming? Jazz drumming. Nope. Nope. Nope. Tamu isn't even looking at those calypso cowbells. How does she hit them perfect every time?
Damn that was good. I don't know a whole lot about Lupin III (it is called Lupin The Third) aside from it being a relatively-old series, I think it first came out in the late 60s or early 70s, and the original creator has passed away. Speaking of Babymetal, it sounds like new music is about to be released.
Hola amigo 👋 esta baterista es fenomenal impecable, una performanse y ritmo digna de las mejores ! Ama tocar, es como pez en el agua ! Me encanta la Tamu ! Gracias por compartir tan genial baterista!😎🤘
LUPIN III (you pronounced right) is originally a manga series, but its anime version is far much more popular, so popular that almost every single Japanese knows at least the title, "Lupin III". This song is the opening song of the TV series, and the reason why it's jazzy is that the anime/manga is an homage to film noir, American and French crime thrillers. "Lupin" is taken from, as you might know, the main character of Maurice Leblanc's Arsene Lupin thrillers. This "gentleman thief" is also very popular in Japan.
