On her way to Scotland Yard to report several murders in her village, an elderly woman encounters retired policeman Luke Fitzwilliam. I would hope that given how many of us are so appreciative & fond of Hugh Fraser’s narrations of Agatha Christie’s fine audiobooks that he must know by now. For me his voice has become imprinted on my brain so that I have an automatic relaxation response now when I hear him say only a few words. If I’m tired, I will not only relax, I will fall asleep. But if not, when I relax, I seem to be able to focus on the story better & am not distracted by other things. Mr. Fraser’s voice has become that of a trusted, reliable friend. We are so fortunate to have him available to us. Thank you.

On one hand it's wonderful falling asleep to Hugh's voice but on the other hand it takes forever to listen to all of it as I fall asleep after 5 minutes. There are several other A.C. books I would love to listen to like the Labours of Hercule I think it's called and it's the second last one that was made for TV and not the ones you can find on RU-vid. I should also like to listen to Sad Cypress and dead man's folly I think it's called and a few others. I don't like the radio dramas just the soft voice of Hugh or that of David Suchet:) Thank you very much for sharing this, my eyes can't handle reading, so I love to listen to these stories!!

(there are two mentally unbalanced people, whose illnesses build up and then spill over, but it’s not totally obvious. Agatha Christie was an incredible writer (with a few quirks of her own :) 🖋️🌷🌱

Some of her characters border on class-based stereotypes is part of why I think this is. Alot of her lower class female characters LOVE gossip and true crime and seem to not be able to help themselves regardless of the circumstances. There is a Piorot mystery though where another mother was partially characterized this way but when she began speaking about her child she began to break down only to seem embarrassed because the sudden display of emotion was what she thought was inappropriate.

Just curious 🤔 Sometimes if they are really well done I get a feeling that the Queen of mystery herself is working kind of like a muse from the non-physical….. I know sounds crazy but “a haunting in Venice” was kind of like the book of short stories that were paranormal that she did! I loved those stories and I know I sound insane but….. it’s a long shot! Lol Seriously though, how can you expect to get a 10-11 hour book in to an hour and a half of a tv show or movie without leaving most of the good bits out!? One of my favourites is Mrs McGinty's Dead, there is a part where he changes voices between the postmistress, the young local girl and Poirot and you absolutely believe it's 3 different people. Possible spoilers ahead as I ponder who might have dunnit. One of my guesses might be correct. . . . . . . . . . At first I was sure it was Dr. Thomas. Then I thought it was Bridgit - and honestly, as a by-the-by, how awful must it be to have been a woman back then? To have someone tell you you're a horrible person, cruel, a witch, a gold-digger....and these words are meant to be words of love! Completely toxic! Now I think how fabulous it would be if it were Mrs. Waynflete. She engineered it all to get back at Lord Whitfield for killing her beloved budgie. That's why she wants to invite Bridgit to stay with her...to make it easy to murder her. Ooooh. I hope I'm right. That would be so much fun. Never thought it was Mr. Ellsworthy. That was a ridiculous attempt to divert us.
