I read from the book the beak masks were popular during the Black Plague. They were worn by medical workers and the beaks were filled with herbs 🌿 believed to protect the worker. The book tells you charlatans would also wear the masks. It is up to you to decipher who is friend and who is foe behind the mask. I just received my deck for Christmas yesterday and I love it. The design, the art, and what is written in the book. Notice the Queen of Swords shadow is different than her appearance.
I am glad that you like it. It does have quite dark undertones, yet not in a creepy way. Having performed a couple of readings with it for myself, it is a brutally honest deck, and pulls no punches. I am glad you got it. Enjoy working with it Simon. xx
These have been on my list since they came out! Im so skint after spending way too much on decks the last few months.......But I think I need them!! 😅 Thankyou Simon. Love your walk throughs. I have a lot less time now im back at work but always lurking xXxx
This deck is incredible. I just recieved the Limited and Numbered edition today. The cards are huge and there is red highlighted throughout each card. Also has two cards with images on each side. Thank you for the video. I love to see others reviews. This reminds me for some odd reason, of the Dark Grimoire Tarot which I love.
I’ve really been looking forward to this one. The Crow or Raven is my spirit animal. The black and white is really stunning and the iconic beak masks give an extra level of eeriness. Great deck for this time of year. Great choice of music as well.
Looking at the images makes me slip into another realm/world. With the way I'm feeling I wouldn't read it yet, but later on I would. Excellent for darker readings or shadow work.
I picked these up the other week as well. I’ve been so excited to do a walkthrough before I work with it. I just love the art work in this deck so much. 😊 xx
Simon, is there a reason that you filmed the cards in your hands and not anymore zoom in? I have notice that in your last videos that you do that and I find it better when you zoomed in. That's why I wonder ;)
I was looking forward to your walkthrough, Simon! That is definitely a striking and a very well done tarot deck! I really like the look of it, it’s the exact amount of creepy I can deal with, I think. I agree with this deck being black & white adds to its uniqueness! I love crows, too. Thank you for sharing! 🙏❤️
SIMON I bought this deck over a month ago, I just love it . It reads Wonderfully. I always look forward to your Walk Thur . I EDGED My Deck in RED to give it a Pop of Color. It looks Great . Hugs Caroline 🥰😘❤
I went to my metaphysical shop this morning and what was the first deck I came across? Murder of the Crows. Of course, had to pick it up. I can see a lot of shadow work being done with this deck. Thank you for the review Simon! 🖤
hi Simon, just got this deck today, and came here to look for a review and saw your video! it is stunning, a bit dark but profound at the same time! ty ❤️
Just ordered this deck. Love dark decks especially at this time of year. And can the plague masks be any more timely?!?! Thank you for the walk-through. Always very helpful. I always value your comments and thoroughness. Also, love the eerie music! Hah!
It arrived yesterday. It's a shame that the juiciest content is only in English and only the bare minimum in the other languages. Luckily I know how to read English, but it's still a little unfair that those who don't understand it miss out on such rich content. On the other hand, the description of the arcana in other languages is very summarized. --- Beyond that issue, the deck is wonderful and definitely ideal for Shadow Work.
You nailed it about having to sit with some of the cards. When I first flipped through mine, it was like cruising along a newly paved road and then suddenly hitting a pothole because most of the cards are very Standard RWS in some (and even many) ways, but then others are just totally different. I don’t think it is a bad thing - it was just unexpected. But anyway, I do like your own point about sitting with the cards. Thank you for another wonderful video. :-)
I didn’t know sky burials was also a Zoroastrian burial practice, I knew it was mainly Tibetan. A note about the author of this deck, since the beginning it was one of the main artists of the comics series Dylan Dog, the “nightmare investigator”
Really stark B&W! The art looks amazing & packs a punch! I saw Elaine's walkthrough and thought wow! I've been on the fence. The more i see the more i could imagine using this especially when in a deep dark kind of mood! In fact i don't have a deck which could match that kind of mood! I think this deck is very much growing on me Simon!... I think I just typed myself into making this a December deck purchase 🤣 With the gloss, does the deck have a strong smell? My Radiant Wise Spirit still really smells!
Thanks for sharing this walkthrough! I found the Crow Tarot a little too busy for my tastes but this one looks interesting, dark but interesting. Do you know about the limited edition of this deck? It has a splash of red throughout the images. Hope all is well, Simon!
Omg I love this! I agree with you that it has an eerie vibe - but then I love eerie and creepy 😁 The masks that some of the characters are wearing remind me of the masks that plague doctors used to wear. His is definitely a deck I would like to get, if the limited edition is going to be a lot different to this colour wise, then I might have to get both! 😍❤️
I pre-ordered the "Limited Edition" of Murder of Crows for my birthday (Oct 1st), which officially came out in early October... yet I still haven't received it. I think they over-sold. Now says my deck isn't coming in until close to Christmas, lol. The Limited Edition has more red in each of the cards, which I liked a lot more than the standard deck. If you ever get your hands on the Limited Edition, I'd love to see a comparison between that deck and this one. :-)
The limited edition has two doubled sided extra cards. The Crow Mother/Father and The Crow Dusk/ Dawn. And it is numbered to 2999 decks. I have 2909 of 2999.
Still watching, I am eager to find out what you think. It was one I mulled over. In all honesty at first I was slightly put off by some of the images, then weirdly drawn to it in our local metaphysical shop. Very different that is for sure... Anyway, you are up to the point of taking off the plastic, so I shall stop chatting and carry on watching... hope all is good my friend xx
The version you are showing is fine, I have both the standard version and the deluxe version. However, the deluxe version is really nice. The black and white with the red in the deluxe version just makes the images pop. I have not read yet with the Murder of Crows Tarot, but I plan to use it soon. I also have the Crow Tarot. While I do not use it daily, it is still a very useful deck that reads well for me. I also use the Crow Tarot with other decks and for me it is very clear when used.
Fills the dark and creepy bill - moreso, I'd say than the Edgar Allan Poe Tarot. Stylized images are stark and appealing. Though I'm not fond of the stereotypical brutish men and seductress women. But, I'm glad it's actually not an animal deck. Gives one something to sink one's teeth into with regards to the human condition.
