Murdock Mixology: Gallery Talk with Artist Judith Schaechter 

[previously recorded: Sept 21, 2023] Judith Schaechter, a pioneer of contemporary stained glass art, speakes on the Wichita Art Museum's acquisition, "Here I Come" (2022). In this piece, Schaechter conveys a powerful message centered around female empowerment and environmental activism. Rather than adhering to traditional portrayals of women as damsels in distress, this artwork showcases a young woman running through a field with the determination of a superhero. Her resolute expression and the proclamation, ‘Here I come to save the day!’ reflect her agency and commitment to addressing one of the most pressing issues of our time-the climate crisis.
