Over 9 minutes of interview and no one mentioned the Awesome Colleen Dewhurst, who portrayed Murphy's mom. Colleen was hilarious in the episodes she was in. The one I remember had Colleen stepping out of the elevator onto Murphy's office floor. Colleen was waving a hand gun and when Murphy asked her what she was doing with a gun, she answered, "The security guard downstairs got smart with me, so I took it away from him."
I heard it was because of low sales for the first set. But you're right! Me and my mom have been waiting for them to release more forever. Let's hope they do
This show well because it reminds me about "MTM" in which they were a complete ensemble group of actors that worked together. If you guys doubts it - please check MTM!
I'm kind of curious why the character Miles (arguably the best character on the show in my opinion) left long before the show ended its run? Could it have been due to conflict? I couldn't help but notice that Grant Shaud wasn't very vocal during the piece...
I don't know much but I know he thought the idea of him and Corky getting married was stupid. I agree. They were on the show for all those years and then suddenly they fall in love? Give me a break.
It was great seeing them again. I love that show, and I wanted to ask, does anyone know why they did not syndicate Murphy Brown??? What was the politics behind it??? As successful as Murphy Brown was, they must have been willing to lose a lot of money not to syndicate it or put out any DVD's for the 10 seasons it ran. Anyone knows what happened? (did CBS get bought out by a bunch of Republicans)??
No Lily Tomlin. LMAO! In my honest opinion. The show sucked after Miles (Grant) left and she took over. Really really wish that Antenna TV or another channel would pick this up.
I loved the original 1988-1998 CBS/ Warners TV series, but I highly despised the 2018 "MURPHY BROWN" reboot, much less seeing Candice Bergen on ABC's "THE CONNORS", another prolonged and pathetic disaster that reeks of Disney's rodent smell-and the horribly rotten way that they handled Roseanne Barr, which was absolute overkill! But "MURPHY BROWN"s original CBS run was both great and fun viewing, and truly worth the Emmy Awards that it earned during its run! seeing the Murphy Brown character make a brief cameo on NBC's popular "SEINFELD" was also an interesting occurrence. The really huge mystery here, is why Warner Bros. hasn't released the entire series onto DVD yet, with the exception of Season One!
Liked what Faith said: "My character had two marbles to rub together," in reference to her character's ditziness. Faith is obviously more intelligent than that.
Too bad the show is so horrible!! If CBS WANTS HIGH RATINGS...they should run the original...i would tune in for that, and Designing Woman, China Beach and Northern Exposure.I would watch every week ..every episode like its the first run!!! Now CBS HAS NOTHING TO OFFER AND NOW THAT Jeff Glor is gone from the Evening News...Im pretty much done
I tried liking this show,,,but i just didnt. Acting was so forced..she overboard on her womens right stuff etc...too much too intense..not real. What a man she played !..Jim Dial...OMG..YUK!!!! whinny jew Silverberg... it was just just too much.
I couldn't agree with you more. I stopped watching the show after Miles aka Grant left. I mean did they really think they could replace the talented and gregous Grant with a washed up old has been?
Faith is right. It did not work the same. The last two seasons are unwatchable for me. Even as a 9 year old in 96 I shut that crap off as soon as Lily Tomlin came in as Kay and Grant left as Miles. Could not watch it. Only watched the finale. And, then I also love the episode that Charles picked as his fave for the Encore reunion picks in 2013. The one where Jim buys weed for Murphy. Those are the only episodes I will watch from those seasons. They sucked. Absolutely sucked. When Grant left. The magic was gone. Like I said in my other post. I pray he's back for the reboot.
I can't believe there is STILL only one season available of this brilliant TV show on DVD. Can't wait for the rest. Looks like they're keeping us waiting like they did with The Nanny lol
@gradlg0916 i do too and i wish they keeped the show on now nick at night has such crappy shows like my wife and kids everybody hates chris and George Lopez show i mean these shows are certainly not classics like this one is
I can think of 2 reasons why it's not in syndication. The first is that they syndicated it back in the 90's (while it was still on the air and shortly after it ended) and it did poorly, for whatever reason. The second is that the show dealt with a lot of current events & politics of the 80's & 90's, which may seem dated to the under-30 crowd. I think no one is willing to take a second chance on a show that underperformed once in syndication and could very easily be seen as a dinosaur by some.
quail in the bushes made an absolute fool of himself where discussing anything with Murphy Brown! even the sky is not the limit on what Trump will do! let the fun begin!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Thank you I need a good laugh. Grant is the only one of the whole cast who did not age a day. As for miss Ford she looks like she was dressed by Mattel.
Rimskey1 I got it too! Apparently sales of this and NIGHT COURT which came out on DVD at the same time weren't great at all. It took years for the rest of NIGHT COURT to hit DVD and sadly MB has never received similar treatment... some have said the show's use of music would make it costly to bring to DVD. Having said that I know I'd be willing to shell out for a complete season set, and since the first season came out things like iTunes and amazon Prime have taken off - and I know I'd certainly pay to own it on my iTunes.
