I have loved this song for many years. I went in Bangkok forty years ago, it was the first time. I came back in 2022, I am still here in Krung Thep. I am found of the smiles. The huge energy of this city is improving my health.
Was in the army--Vietnam--in 1966/67 --took my R&R in Bangkok, I'm 75 years old now, and can honestly say-- those 5 nights in Bangkok were the best most memorable nights of my life.
I spent a few days there in those years too. From the you tube videos available, it is now much larger, and it seems the sex trade has blossomed considerably. It was a fascinating place then, but I personally enjoyed the order in Tokyo more.
Agreed! I'd also like to know who the girl is that is featured in the video. She pops up again and again...she does a great job. Beautiful and classy...
New York, New York; April in Paris; I Left My Heart in San Francisco; Managua, Nicaragua; The Girl from Ipanema; Winchester Cathedral; could even count Gangnam Style, it's a street in Seoul.
I was in the US Air Force in 1972-3 and went to Bangkok on R@R for 5 days. Was drunk too much but went to Patpong Rd and brought a gogo beautiful thai girl back to my hotel. Also went to the zoo and a kung fu movie. Best 5 days of my life just wish I hadn't drunk as much as I did.
I got off the plane and entered the airport and when outside I was greeted by a golden fat boy statue waiting for me. I knew then I walked into the depths of evil and all I wanted was to get out ASAP!
@@oldschoollgearjammerlongmi5209 Never went near Soi Cowboy or Nana Plaza. Stayed on Rambuttri Street and Khao San Road and the surrounding area. Took Tuk Tuk rides to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) and Royal (Grand) Palace, and Temple of the Reclining Buddha, (Wat Pho) and a few other temples over the days I was there. And spent some time wandering a couple markets. Namo Buddhaya 🙏🏼 ☸️ 🙂 🌴 ✈️
a great song, a great portrait of a vivid city. I am from Germany, my girlfriend lives there, I visit her three times a year. We always have a great time.
I listening 6 years and then have go to Bangkok first time. No going there every year 32 years already and have wife from there and 3 kids. No buying own home there already. Loved that country (most of times).
This song was written/sung by ABBA, Murray Head was only the guest rapper. ABBA did an amazing job here -- the refrain into the super dry, tight mix on the vocals at 0:38 hits different. The voices feel right next to you with ABBA's unorthodox harmonic style.
From the Internet: "One Night in Bangkok" is a song from the concept album and musical "Chess" by Tim Rice, Benny Andersson, and Björn Ulvaeus. British actor/singer Murray Head raps the verses, while the chorus is sung by Anders Glenmark, a Swedish singer/songwriter.
From the Broadway show "Chess". The big hit from that show was "I Know Him So Well". Music was written by the guys from ABBA. The show itself bombed....lasted 2 weeks on Broadway.
"CHESS" was originally produced as a "concept album". As a fully staged musical production it had a successful 3 year run on London's West End, but bombed on Broadway. It has had recurrent "revivals" over the years; usually in a "concert" format. Possibly one of the most successful and profitable vehicles that "no one has ever seen" Go figure...
Searched "One night in Bangkok song" as an idea for a similar film soundtrack. Found this video and OMG. So many good locations, shots and content. Superbly edited and hits the right note. BTW: The featured lady is a stunner. I'll just share this with my friends as a showcase of everything Bangkok and surroundings (noticed Chatuchak in the film which is local to me).
@@ouimetco Fly into Bangkok and take the first taxi to Pattaya 2000 Baht! Relax have fun for a few days and then go to the islands in the South, fantastic beaches. Stop over in Bangkok on your way home, fun but expensive!
Ive always loved this murry head tune but i never heard it properly back then. Going through my music, skipping quite a bit, then clocking 'one night in bangkok i always want to play it. Got led to utube and found this video . Its perfect. I feel sad now coz ive had my mind blown and really wanted to experience that with another human.
I was looking for THIS cut of the song, as it's the best, and it's the cut I remember hearing on the radio back in the 80's. I decided to watch the video for $#!TS and giggles, and found it to be a tasteful, colorful video edit that fits very well with the song. I wish some original video scenes of Murray Head singing some of the lyrics were featured interspersed in it, though.
@@Strawberry-vq7zl ... I love that song. It is one of my favourites. And I really enjoy that lovely lady taking us to all the places that I know so well. Ah, memories. One day I will return.
Really love it. I've always liked the song, but the video just adds so much...a great cross section of the culture. It seems to cover a whole lot in just a few short minutes. Really great video to go with a great song. Wish I could visit this land!
If you get a chance to go I would really go it's worth it five star hotels in Bangkok are $75 right now you can have an Island resort for 30 bucks a night
